Hello, from Northern Ontario, Canada.
I dx'd a few months ago, at nearly 54, a year and a half into recovery from a nearly catastrophic burn out. Horrendous non care, from an array of general and specialist physicians, forced me to research the hell out of my situation and heal myself. It's a very good thing I'm autistic; "special interest" level research and lateral thinking saved me (with the help of the internet).
I see, now, that most of my family and all of my 3 grown children are also autistic (we thought we were just dyslexic) and I'm very thankful. We are a group of multipotentialites without trauma. My "career" and main special interest was in education, but engineering/architecture/construction is my longest and most beloved. Burnout has me regressed farther than I'd like but I'm at least 60% recovered.
I'm hoping to make contact with proactive autistics. I have no use for complaints without action. My drive for autonomy is palpable, and persistent.
I'm also extroverted, happy and financially stable...a real unicorn.

Welcome. I'm from S. Ont, but am past 53 N now. My vocation was in engineering to avoid the current climate crisis, but my career was frustrated because capital prefers waste to efficiency in what they sell.

The farthest, north we have been is Sudbury, have property near Bancroft. To most of residents of Ontario that is the north. the real north is thousands of kilometers further.

I met someone visiting from farther north, and they were feeling overwhelmed by having more than one store in town. I like having the long summer days and the Aurora some nights.
I used to summer at the South end of Lake Huron, and every year, we would see American cars bearing snow toys.

Hi and welcome. Sounds like you went through a lot, but were able to use some of your autistic skills and interest focus in good ways. I guess though we need to also realise that whilst it's great to be proactive and take action on issues, some here have depression or trauma that interferes with that. We are all different, despite our similarities in some areas. I hope you enjoy it here and find it useful and supportive.

Hello and welcome.

One of my best friends is from Elliot Lake, and I've been as far north as Cochrane, ON.

I spent many years camping, kayaking, boating, and fishing on uncharted lakes near Virginiatown and the Crown land of remote Northern Quebec.

I've done lots of canoeing and snowmobiling near Elliott Lake, and my highschool was in the same athletic association.

Welcome!

I'm also very extroverted and social, happy (most of the time), and financially stable since I have found the right career path. So I guess I'm a unicorn too lol ;) Good because I love unicorns!

However, I have unfortunately dealt with a lot of trauma in my life, but I have overcome the really bad stuff. Now mostly just dealing with nightmares and flashbacks and a lack of trust for most humans. But I'm still healing.

This forum has been incredibly helpful for me though, and I have made a lot of friends here. I hope it becomes the same for you! :)

I love Canada, btw. I spent some time in Quebec and loved it.

I am excited to meet new people. I'm so sorry for the trauma so many have experienced. My rural life certainly helped me stay autonomous.
