Any advice to stop insomnia?

It seems I can go weeks with great sleep. Then either the weather changes. Something exciting happens in my life. Or other things good or not so good happen and I get restless nights where I just can't sleep. Sleeping pills don't work. They just make me more tired. I am thinking about trying sleeping liquid. Also I have to keep urinating every 30 minutes which keeps me from falling to sleep.

Now it's so bad I have not slept in two days. I barely eating anything. I can't go to the gym as I am too dizzy and tired to even walk there.

Peeing every 30 minutes does sound concerning.

Is it your mind that keeps you awake when you’re trying to fall asleep?

Is the problem not being able to fall asleep at all? Or not being able to stay asleep?

The problem is not being able to fall asleep at all.

Yes my mind is keeping me awake. I am thinking of racing thoughts. From talking to attractive woman to losing weight.

I'm definitely not a master of sleep, but I find that avoiding caffeine (either after 12 PM or just altogether), and getting 25+ minutes of vigorous exercise daily is a bare minimum for decent sleep for me. If I mess up either of these, it's going to get a lot tougher.

I actually seem to have a shifting circadian rhythm, though, rather than traditional insomnia; these days, I can definitely sleep if I'm genuinely tired, but not if I slept in, napped, or something like that.

I've also been one to start problem-solving or hyperfocusing on goals and interests while in bed though, and that never ends well. Usually I'll just keep dreaming about that one problem I'm trying to solve, math, or synth patching while waking up every 30 minutes and asking myself if I was dreaming or just 'thinking'. Those parts suck, lol

Also, this does not substitute a real doctor, but people claim that this method can fix things in a pinch. It's still always worth it to get things checked out if it persists, but apparently it can also be tied to blood sugar issues.

I've also been known to drink a lot of liquid before bed and sometimes this can mimic problems like that

I took a sleeping pill melatonin 3 mg at 9 pm witm my prescription pills. I went to bed at 10 pm. About 30 minutes later I had to pee.

I then fell asleep until around 1 am then pee again. Every couple hours I got up but I did sleep. In the morning I was up every hour but I did doze off.

I feel better. So I plan on resting until noon then getting back in the routine of going to the gym so I sleep at night.

That might be a good question for your doctor, if that is a side effect. To rule out anything else.
