Anyone else think this fictional character is an Aspie?

Don't we already have a thread pertaining to suspected fictional Aspies? Maybe we could merge this with that one.

I've read that book, but until now it's never occurred to me to think of Stevens as an Aspie. It would be interesting though. Butlers are kind of a sub-obsession of mine and I've never heard of an autistic one, though I'd love to see one in a book or movie. Don't they need good social skills?

Well, he has a set procedure for how to behave as a butler, he has a set of rules as a butler that take the place of social skills. But when it comes to more spontaneous social things, he doesn't do so well. There are times where he tries to make a joke, and other people just have that moment of awkward moment that happens when an Aspie makes a joke.
Aspieness is not necessarily so clear in the movie.

Oh, that makes sense.
