Anyone having trouble selling right now on Craigslist/OfferUp/LetGo right now?

I was wondering, if anyone here has anything listed on Craigstlist/OfferUp/LetGo right now, how are your sales doing during this pandemic? The reason why I ask is that I am trying to sell a used air purifier on all three of those selling platforms (and formerly on 5miles as well), but I have gotten zero offers (except for scam offers on 5miles, which I have since delisted for that reason).

While I understand social distancing is going on, I would have thought that an air purifier would have been something that would have been an item that would have been in high demand due to COVID-19. I can understand clothing and accessories not selling, but I am surprised nobody wants my air purifier. Perhaps it is either my competition or my location. I compared my price with other listings and my price is competitive with similar listings. My air purifier is a Honeywell AirGenius 4 Compact HFD280B.

I would like to know, how are your Craigslist/OfferUp/LetGo sales doing right now?

Unfortunately probably the most common denominator pertinent to the most people is a simple one.

Money is tight when EVERYTHING is so unpredictable at the moment. Where people's dwindling amount of cash on hand is likely to be going elsewhere. Forget any notion that people have disposable income at the moment. So far some 22 million Americans have suddenly lost their jobs.

High demand? Toilet paper, paper towels and tissue. One to a customer....

When the basics are so critical, no one is likely thinking about air purifiers for the duration.

Another possibility is the fact that shipping/ordering is just not necessarily seen as safe.

In the communities online that I tend to hang out in, people are still buying things fine.... but it's all digital purchases. AKA, games and movies, or maybe work software (since many are adapting to work from home now).... things they dont have to touch. When you add in a physical package, that presents a problem. PARTICULARLY when you consider how much of an awful cesspool the average shipping company is to begin with. Dont even get me started on how nasty Amazon is. They were a plague BEFORE the pandemic started.

It's not that you CANT be safe about ordering stuff, you absolutely can be (and it's not that hard really) but it presents a whole set of extra steps that you have to deal with when the package arrives, and frankly I'm betting it probably just scares people in a general sense.

But also there's other potential situations/reasons too. There might be some people that are doing just fine financially (maybe they worked from home to start with) but are now starting to deal with depression or whatever, feeling stir crazy from getting cooped up for too long. Or, those who suffer from anxiety. I dunno about everyone else, but I know I cant deal with any sort of store, physical or digital, when in some sort of messed up mood. In that state it's overwhelming. Depression and anxiety can really mess with you, after all.

And lastly, changes in habits can mean that buying habits change. Buying something isnt just about spending money, it's also about your exact reasons for buying and how you intend on using the thing in question. But right now, all those reasons have gotten all twisted as people sorta restructure their average day/week.

So yeah, that's some possibilities.

I'm sure it'll sell eventually, especially if it's sensibly priced. Plus hayfever season is starting up, so there'll probably be a likely buyer soon. Regarding the CV situation - a lot of people I work with are spending money due to boredom of being stuck inside. A whole lot of impulse purhcases and frivolous spending.

My partner has been buying a fair bit for our garden since the weather is turning nice. Delivery delays from Amazon of course, but it's still arriving in decent time.

Of course, the situation is different for everyone - but I don't agree with fixating on the doom and gloom of it all. Plenty of positives to be found.

Hopefully you get your sale soon.

Another reason could be that some Honeywell air purifiers, especially those made in the 2000s, use specialized filters that are increasingly getting harder to come by. I'm thinking of the round HEPA filters used in many smaller Honeywell/Kenmore purifiers between 2000-07 or so, the HEPA filters simply aren't made anymore, and I've seen Kenmore purifiers in thrift stores for cheap because there are no filters. Also, used air purifiers are often thought of as "dirty/filthy" from years of attracting dust, which after all is what they're designed to do. During a plague few people will want to deal with somebody else's dust.

The AirGenius I am selling uses a permanent washable ifD filter. The optional odor-reducing "K" pre-filters are available on Amazon.

Just as an update, I finally sold my old air purifier as of last night. Hopefully I don't get any complaints from the buyer.
