Anyone w-sit?

Today during a team eval at work, I had an ot point out to me that our kid with autism was w-sitting. So was I... I asked why that was a big deal, and not only is it bad, but apparently, adults aren't even supposed to be able to do it! I told her not to tell anyone she saw me do it!! After reading about it, i saw its common in ASD and other developmental issues too. Just wondered if others do it...

It's a bit uncomfortable to do, I just tried and didn't like it. But so, I can also do it. I've just cross sat in everywhere, on floor and on chairs, all my life. It's odd to sitting legs tidily in front.

I actually do this too. But I always told that it was because of my poor vision and that it offered me just a better way to balance and be able to see and move when I needed to. I don't see it as a problem nor do I see it as something that is necessarily common to ASD people It might just be something that is comfy for some kids.

That's how I sat when I was a kid because it was the most comfortable position for me whilst sitting on the floor. I couldn't (and still can't) sit cross legged because it's very uncomfortable.

I'm not sure how a specific sitting position could indicate anything other than what's most comfortable on one's joints/muscles.

Never did it as a kid; tried it just now and could do it...barely. I can see (and feel) how it can be injurious. My specialty was just generic weird positions.

In case you missed it, I'm 43.

Well some people find it comfortable to sit on their knees, but that restricts blood flow. I hate sitting cross-legged too. That also feels like it's restricting my blood flow, and it gives me bad pins and needles.

I also sat like that, and that's how I usually sit now, although I can't sit like that as long as I used to (I'm 51).

Heh, my legs and arms are numb constantly no matter how I position myself. But I personally haven't noticed that any set in particular wold make it any worse. But I'm bit worried that sitting cross legged might lead muscles at my lower back weaken and that could affect in my posture in every sense of it.

Oh, I didn't know it had a name but I used to do this a lot too. I don't so much now, it hurts my knees too much.
