Are there any films you like watching around New Year?

Whether you stay up until Midnight or not, I think a few of us will probably be watching a film or two on New Years Eve.
For me, I started doing it some years back when I was on my own for New Year's Eve, back when I still went to college. On this particular New Year's Eve (during which I was looking after our dog as she hated fireworks), I was flicking through the channels and ended up watching Monty Python's The Meaning of Life - which I'd previously only seen clips from.

Since then, I try and watch a film or two around New Year's Eve - preferably something comical (be it an intentionally funny film or something you laugh at because of how silly/bad it is) to start off the New Year with a laugh.
However, do you guys have any films you enjoy watching on New Year's Eve?

Part of me wants to watch Miami Connection (which is a 1987 film I've seen before but it got a laugh out of me as it's pretty silly, and also because I like the film's song "Against the Ninja" by Dragon Sound).

That said, I definitely want to watch the 1981 film Time Bandits - I've never seen that one and I've seen it advertised on Film4 for 1:45pm on New Year's Eve.

Terry Gillium at his best, though I'd vote for Brazil. Not a spoiler but ". . . . it's evil! Don't touch it!!!" Is a good summation.

I want to start off the new year with The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Especially now that I live in a house where I can play my movies loudly without disturbing any neighbors.

Somehow in my house it's become a tradition to watch National Lampoons Christmas Vacation on xmas, Idiocracy on New Years.

I gave my Dad a DVD of Dinner for One a while back so we can make like Germans and watch it on New Year's Eve (although in practice we're more likely to watch it on Boxing Day).

Dinner For One has been aired on tv in Norway at 9 o'clock every Little Christmas Eve, december 23, since 1980. I have watched it almost every year since I was 5 years old I think. :) Same procedure as last year every year. Now that's a classic. It's called "The Countess and the Butler" here.

My wife watches " It's a wonderful life " each Christmas.

I don't watch tv , I tend to read a lot but she does record the Repair Shop ( for me, she doesn't watch it)

I fast forward to clock repairs/metal toy repairs/any welding or anything mechanical.

I think I will binge watch Midnight Diner; Tokyo stories. The series ends at a New Years. It is the quirky, gentle humor that I like. It was a tossup between that and The Detectorists.
