Art tablet fund update

mods, take down if deemed unneeded.

As you may know, my art tablet’s screen is kind of broken right now. I can still do art on it thankfully. However, I’m trying to raise money for me to get a new tablet.

My current balance is just shy of 4400 dollars, which drains every month because my dad takes out $120 a month for me living with him. My only source of income right now is a part time job paying 12.35/hour. I’m almost $1000 away from getting a new tablet for drawing. I can draw anything you want as long as you pay me for it.

Holy wienerschnitzel, a new tablet costs more than 4 300 dollars? I didn't know it was so expensive. Best of luck with the funding, I hope you get your new tablet soon.

I have enough for the tablet theoretically but I would need to save more for other expenses

That's very clever of you, something a lot of people don't think about. It's good to always keep a float there for when bills come in. It saves you so much stress. Well done.

Thank goodness it’s not $4000 for an iPad. I would probably drop to the ground if that was true

Looking for funding too. I need a cappuccino machine. I can't draw anything. I draw horribly after 5 cappuccinos. Lol.

You @mysterionz are very industrious to save up that much money. Alot of young people don't realize to put 50 dollars away every month of your working years, and you may have a little cash in your 60's.

The question that comes to mind for me is: Are you sure you want an iPad specifically? No other options that might cost less? The cost to value of the iPad pro is... well, it doesnt exactly match up, which I say as someone who owns one.

Though, I could say that about any Apple device.

My current drawing tablet is an 11 inch iPad Pro. I’ve been wanting to upgrade it for a while now as I use it daily. The cost of getting an actual drawing tablet would be too much since I would have to get a new computer as well.

Check Ebay and Amazon. You can often find it for cheaper. Maybe even a used one that looks like perfect brand new, and all the hardware and software has been refurbished, for half price. Maybe even an item that has an open box, but the device inside is still brand new.

Then you've got 2000 extra dollars to buy a car or something awesome like that.

My mom suggested I be aware of refurbished products. They can sometimes be passcode or iCloud locked :(

A reputable reseller will provide unlocked devices.
My partner got one from her parents on eBay last year for Xmas. Her mom also found a deal for a new Samsung phone for under $300 after her old phone got smashed when it fell out of her pocket

Is there anything I can do aside from working to earn extra $$? Not go fund me’s as I believe it’s cheating. I would do refurbished if I wasn’t a scaredy cat Lol

You have dignity though, to leave GoFundMe for truly needy people.

Working is the most reliable way to make extra income. Either that, selling surplus items works well for me. I did that with a typewriter and got $100 towards an expensive car repair. And I bought parts to do the repairs myself.

I believe you might do better selling stuff online or something like that, but if you really want money regularly, work. I love being able to get $17 an hour just to turn up at a factory and make repairs. One day I will have more, I hope, but it's nice to have a job that can tide me over until I have a proper career. (Auto work is a good career but we have no union here and there are some small issues. But I digress.)

I’m stuck making $12.35/hour as a front service clerk. My mom claims that’s good but to me, it’s just meh.

Something my Mum told me when I was little, but it wasn't until I got much older that I found out she was right.

"People don't get rich by earning more than you or me. They get rich by not parting with any of it."

Even though you're not earning a lot of money being very careful with your spending can make a big difference. It's not the big things you buy that send you broke, it's all the little things, a cup of coffee, a quick snack. They call it "nickel and diming" but today that's $2 here, $5 there, it adds up quick.
