Move somewhere else if unfit for here.

Buying my second drawing tablet soon, a 12.9 inch iPad Pro with 512gb of storage. I’m about $1000 away from my goal amount saved. I could buy it now but I wouldn’t have enough money left to pay for things like food and my cell phone bill.

Wow, I didn't realize those were so expensive! I got my XP Pen tablet for something like $250 and it's been going strong for at least 5 years now. Definitely not a whole lot of bells and whistles on it, though

Food, cell phone bill, rent, etc... are far more important than the iPad

What good is the iPad if you aren't eating

I know it's tough to even suggest that, I have been there and asked that question lots myself related to my photography gear...

The best things come to those who wait :-) I would definitely hold on a while, I suspect there might be new iPads announced soon, I'm pretty sure they usually announce around this time of year.

This could mean two things! You may get an even better device for the same money, or the prices might tumble on your current choice. Keep an eye out on the "Reconditioned" offers on the Apple site. They are often not even used. When someone makes an order, the device is built to order. Sometimes people change their minds and Apple need to shift the device while they can, so they offer it at a discount.

Of course one or two may be repaired devices, but they come with a full warranty and support, so it's just as good really. But it's very likely you will just get a device that someone ordered, was built, but the order was cancelled.

Apple's M3 chip debut is just around the corner. Might be worth the wait to sit back for a spell while prices may drop some.

Their latest tablets have an M2 chip, potentially making them the fastest, most powerful tablets on the market. Though I sometimes wonder if that's really an asset if they are only used primarily as a tablet for art, and not a computer for productivity and communication. Especially at $1400.

Apple products have always appealed to professional artists and a cult following that pretty much describes their 17%+ share in the market. Modest, but consistent. With the big downside remaining fiercely proprietary technology that is absurdly overpriced compared to competitors. And they continue to market most of their products with nominal hardware parameters at a base cost, while offering overpriced upgrades that should be at their base prices IMO.

So it's a strange dichotomy to me how such a huge corporate entity refuses to change from this stance, but then "it is it what it is". Clearly they don't bend or evolve for the market, but continue to march to the beat of their own drum. And their cult following never seems to waiver in purchases and loyalty to Apple even while being robbed with Apple's exorbitant pricing.

I still recall an interview with Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, who left his active role in the company in disgust over management's unwavering position to remain proprietary and overpriced, limiting themselves to a small corner of the market, when they might have had a huge market share. With much better quality software and hardware compared to Microsoft. A tragic mistake, IMO.

I've only owned one "product" from Apple that certainly exceeded my expectations. Though as a PC builder, I continue to watch the development of their "M" series CPUs with a great deal of interest, given that they seem to be able to deal with thermodynamics better than their competition. Although there is considerable "fanboy" debate on that subject as well.

One thing I can't seem to ignore though are so many comments of late, citing that Linux has surpassed Apple's OS in general. Which seems to be the case...but then I'm somewhat biased about Linux. LOL...yet the latest Linux OS I installed has the look and feel somewhat of a Mac! Love Mac icons and their animations. ;)
