YAY its finally starting to move forward
I have been chasing this for about a year now for a dignosis of Aspies Syndrome, Where i live in the UK (North West) Autism in adults is considered to be a bit of a myth and i have spent many months of having quacks tell me that its all in my head and it does not exist, blah, blah, blah...
But i finally found a doctor with family experiance with situations quite close to mine, but again i have had to wait for months for a referal to a specialist... Months of nothing and then this week has just gone nuts
I have finally had contact with the ASD specialist for my area and after some long email and conversations they have confirmed that i quallify for a diagnosis (Again there is no funding for ASD in adults in the north west, so they only send you for a diagnosis if they are already sure you are in the Autsistic spectrum... And its very expensive for the NHS)
But here comes some confusing bits.
I have also been contacted by DORE, these are a specialist for Dispraxia and again after some test and conversations they are very sure that i have Dispraxia??? Hence my confusion.
Although i am very happy that the specialsts agree with me and i now feel like i can finally put a lable to why i am like i am... (I know that this may upset people but labling things is very important for me, it has to be black and white.)
Have the Dispraxia thrown in to the mix is just messing with my mind... i have done my research and found Aspies and Dispraxia all sits under the spectrum, but i dont understand why it needs to be split in to so many segments, even if 1000 people have been tagged with aspis no 2 people will be the same!
so why so much variation, wouldnt it make more sence to pool the recourses so every one gets a fair chance?
sorry kind of ran off topic there a bit, any way just happy that things are moving forward :H
