ASD -> Which medicines/substances to HELP ASD.

Last Fortress

Active Member
Hey guys,

My name is Rick, I'm 17 and very happy to be here.

May I please ask a question regarding substances & ASD.

Reason:
-> To help social function. Now, socially I am all OK, but I'm just too 'nervous' and and all that. please

List:
  • Nicotine

If you are just nervous try to remember that everyone gets nervous and you can't compare your "behind the scenes to someone else's stage show".
For every wildly attractive person you see, remember some one some where is tired of doing them.

I do NOT suggest nicotine for reduced nervousness. I made that error 18 years ago and I am still puffing. Bad habit! You are 17, please don't start. It offsets nicotine withdrawal nervousness.

I am NOT promoting the use of THC (cannabis) but it works like a charm for me personally :D ( previously )
Check your local laws and morals before use.

I have tried Buspar for offsetting ASD symptoms also. It stopped frequent anxiety attacks, reduced or ended periodic meltdowns, reduced nervousness, and I lost weight, however, it made me feel really high for two hours after each pill. Sort of
Lightheaded clarity bordering on dizzy. A more intense buzz than THC but not as fun.
Everyone is affected in their own unique way though.

Best wishes.

am prescribed 5mg daily of haliperidol [a highly potent anti pyschotic] for severe autistic & ID behaviors including regular daily severe challenging behavior, acutely rigid thinking & behavior, extreme autistic related anxiety [change, unpredictibility],diazepam for the SCB every day but have been on it for many years and it doesnt work anymore so they upped the haliperidol to 5mg and am on a slow withdrawal program, tegretol SR for severe tonic clonic epilepsy & mood stabilizing, and have just had anti depressant changed to prozac for both severe depression and autistic reasons [its effect on extremely rigid thinking and routines plus the anxiety].

have tried cannabis before as brownies and was suddenly interactive with people and more stimulated in thinking.

have also tried mums cigarettes and dont find them any help, but am not HFA so woudnt make use of its social side.

Hi,

Thanks for the replies.

But Nicotine:
- Nicotine greatly helps, but the thing is, I'm a non-smoker and when I use the patches/gum I get sick later on the day because its too much Nicotine for me. (no tolerance to nicotine).

What about using other substances such as mushrooms even in one setting?. Can that have a helpful outcome for ASD?
thank you.

Shrooms or acid will change your world. Extreme caution advised! Be sure to be in a comfortable safe place, maybe with other people who are tripping too, people you are comfortable with. Don't take too much the first time. It takes 45 minutes to an hour to start feeling effects. Plan on about 8 hours. I have met several people who had awesome mind awakenings with such things. Me to, I loved it!

I am not promoting use of psychedelics. I always promote SAFETY first.

yes, of course ok cool. thank you.

may I please ask, what where the effects on you regarding social & life (so like, being outside with society,etc...)

thanks.

I was always social on uncle 'cid, you will laugh for probably an hour or two nonstop near the peak. I don't advise doing it alone. Not cool. The Only less than stellar experience I had was going it alone. I can't express the mind awakening, at peak you know the meaning of life.
Bad trips happen though. And can happen to anyone anytime. Be warned. Again I place emphasis on being in a safe comfortable place with safe people. No scary/ violent movies if you can even focus.
I did watch Christine on mushrooms once though.

ah cool nice. thank you.

but after you had the experience, did you help you deal with life (out in public, etc) more easier?

thanks.

Hmmmm. I'll say No.

I must say there is no cure. Learning to cope is the answer, not drugs or substances. I don't want to sound like a hypocrite, I smoke when ever I am not obliged to abstain. I feel it helps ME with a myriad of issues. But I am unusual on many levels, ASD, add,
Carotidyina, cusp of Carabelli, hypothyroid, Morton's toe.
As for cid, I have seen life differently ever since. I have been more creative and had more appreciation of everything in nature, life, art, etcetera.
I deal with things on a different level since, but it has not helped/ hurt my autism. Most schooling became easier, math is super hard for me always. I attribute that to THC though. I went from special ed, troublemaker low grades to honor roll/ deans list after I started the greens.

Legal disclaimer, I'm not promoting the use or abuse of "drugs"

Let me say this, serious as a heart attack, do NOT ever try, use, or sample cocaine, crack, heroin, dmt, or any chemical Drugs, or processed drugs.
Just say NO to that crap. Seriously!

how dare you class DMT as the same as crack'/heroin.

Well... It's definitely not in same class as crack and H, or addictive? But even so, I dare! Yep. Been there
Haha! I think what I am thinking about is called dmt...? Not sure, if so, then it's bad too. I think horrible taste, violent vomiting and basic immobility are not cool, nope. Not worth it.

Upon a google search, yes, yellow crap to smoke is NOT cool. That's it and it was my single worst drug experience of my life.

well yeah, there you go.

as the Shamans say, if you take most people randomly from the street, they won't have the beautiful experience with DMT.

And how does that help with your AS, may I ask?

"Bad trips happen though. And can happen to anyone anytime."

And from what I've read, bad trips can happen at anytime years later even after you have stopped taking the drug.

As I said, it does not help. I respect your professional experience, and also vehemently oppose narcotics and painkillers.
I have never had a bad flashback (post use bad trip). I don't take drugs anymore, (12 years) not even pain pills (allergic)
My main point is that there is no cure, just learning to cope, without substances. I was just sharing my experiences on the wild side, and in no way promoting drug or "drug" use.

Thank you for saying it doesn't help. I just don't want anyone getting the idea somehow that these kinds of drugs can help their symptoms so then they go and do them and have something bad happen. I'm so glad you don't do these types of drugs anymore. :)

I'm not against all drugs as some (including narcotics and anxiety medicine) can help a person have some quality if life, but they are all highly addictive and should be under a doctors supervision.

It was just in the news a few days ago that hydrocodone is now going to be controlled even stricter due to the abuse of the drug. A person will only get a 90 day supply and then have to go back and see a doctor physically like all other narcs. Evidently, people are now abusing this drug more. The DEA said that there are more deaths from prescription drugs than auto accidents in America.

First of all, the DEA are the biggest drug criminals really. they cause more violence and conflict.
Also, since medical Cannabis was legalized in certain states, those states had a 25% reduced death rate from powerful painstoppers.

So, the cancer patients can lower their Painkiller dosage, and take cannabis at the same time. Its extremely helpful for them.

I totally agree legalizing marijuana - especially for cancer patients. It also helps with severe nausea from chemo.

I see marihuana as being in the same class as alcohol and it should be controlled the same way. The thing is I believe anyone who smokes marijuana is going to find it hard getting a decent job especially if their employer does random drug tests since it stays in the system so long.
