Christopher Eccleston isn't known for crying on-set but a couple of minutes with Gerard Groves - who has Asperger’s Syndrome - and he was "emotional"
An autistic Doctor Who fan reduced Christopher Eccleston to tears during a heartwarming interview.
Gerard Groves, who has Asperger’s Syndrome, a form of high-functioning autism, met his hero when he spoke to the actor who played the Ninth Doctor in 2005 .
The 18-year-old is a young filmmaker for BBC Raw, a training scheme for socially and racially diverse young people who want to develop their filming skills in the UK.
As they get talking, Gerard really opens up about his condition and Eccleston, who currently stars in BBC's autism drama The A Word, gets visibly moved towards the end.

Recalling one incident that scared his family, Gerard reveals: “I remember my mum and my brother were in her room and they locked the door. It was such an argument and because I was 15 I had no way of coping.
“I ran and got a screw driver and unscrewed the lock.
“My granddad had to come down and fix it.”
Although Gerard’s grandfather told him off, he explained that it was “not the way to behave.”

The Doctor Who fan then tells the actor that when he played the Doctor it "opened a whole new world" for Groves, and helped him with his autism.
“I did it in 2005. You were one of mine," says Eccleston, reacting to the news that he helped.
The interview ends with the 52-year-old actor admitting that he got "emotional" during their interview.
He said: “You got me then. You got me crying. I was getting all emotional then.”
On the site, Gerard later posted: “I’m Gerard Groves, I’m 18 years-old, and I love making stuff: films, comedy sketches, project ideas… Basically anything people can watch and enjoy or laugh at or learn from.
“I’ve been making films since I was a 12 year old kid dressed up as Doctor Who in my back garden; my dream is become a cross between Ridley Scott, J.J. Abrams, and Quentin Tarantino.”
