MMA star Shawn Kenny knocked out his opponent in ten seconds before admitting: "I could have done better"
Liverpool mixed martial artist Shaun Kenny says he can do better - despite retaining his title with a stunning 10-second knockout.
Kenny, fighting out of the city centre’s decorated Next Generation gym in Liverpool City Centre, beat Paul Wadsworth to clinch the FCC amateur heavyweight title.
It took the 29-year-old just to catch his opponent with a picture-perfect left hook at the Macron Arena in Bolton on Saturday .
But speaking to the ECHO, Kenny, from Walton , said there is still room for improvement.
He said: “I was happy with the result but not the performance.
“I always nit-pick after a fight and look at things that I could have done better.

“I guess it’s natural when you want to be the best you can be.
“You want to be remembered and you want the match to stand out.”
Kenny has always had a keen interest in sport and exercise, ever since he was a boy growing up in Walton.
He moved schools several times as a teenager but spent the most time at Queen Mary School on Long Lane.
Kenny joined the Marines when he was 17 but had to leave after eight months when he was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome.
He told the ECHO: “Asperger’s Syndrome kind of affects everything I do I guess but it makes me more unique.
“Uniqueness is the reason I love mixed martial arts - because you can put your own personality in the way you fight.”

After the Marines he became a professional strongman, which he stopped doing four years ago when he decided to move into mixed martial arts (MMA).
Kenny, who has a three-year-old son, said he got into MMA because of the different training he had experienced while in the Marines and as a strongman.
And his competitive spirit even comes out in his spare time.
He said: “If someone tells me I can’t do something - I want to do it anyway.
“I like doing weird stuff like climbing mountains at 3am.
Kenny climbed Cadair Idris mountain in mid-Wales a few weeks ago to watch the spectacular blood moon.
Shawn is now passing on his skills to his son, Shawn, 3
He said he is now passing on his skills to his son, also Shawn, three.
Kenny said: “He enjoys watching the UFC and the Rocky films with me. He watched an old Van Damme film - who is a famous kick boxer - and didn’t stop punching and kicking for the whole film.
“I had to hold the pillows of the couch to protect myself from him.
“I’m so lucky as he pretty much smiles 24/7 and is a very happy child,
“I love him more than anything.”
Mr Kenny is also a personal trainer and holds classes at Two Brothers Gym on the Wirral and at several gyms across Liverpool.
