The Mackinac Bridge and U.P. is my happy place.

Hi, I’ve been out for quite a few years. I pretty much dropped out of everything due to health issues and poor internet, and other things. I also tend to get too involved and then feel I can’t keep up, and then when something comes up I fizzle out. Maybe I can try and pace myself better, because this place was always good to me.

Finally got broadband for the first time my life! Our electricity provider stepped up to serve us rural folks and piggybacked it with their own lines. 100mb/s fiber! Now I can see pictures, videos, everything. I used to have to run text based without scripts, and choose a picture to show if I really wanted to see it. I also got myself a Roku, and another device to control my pellet stove away from home.

Been through countless hospital visits and another major surgery. Which failed eventually and I’ve been working on finding another solution. Every day is like a job, but I’m still here. I have biopsy results coming this week they say, so hopefully I’m not jinxing myself. 6 1/2 years ago they said I would have cancer in 5-10 years.

Most things are still the same. Which is what I like. Same job for 26 years. Same house, same 4 old cars, same interests. I did start taking my wagon to car shows, since I got compliments every time I took it somewhere. And I’ve really been trying to get better at playing music. Aside from the health issues (of course it was no picnic back then either), I’m pretty much in the same situation as when I was 22. Alone in my house, same job, playing music, tinkering with satellite TV, and my cars. It was a nice feeling back then, and it is now too. My avatar and caption will always be accurate, and I’m so looking forward to summer.

My daughter is 24 and has had her own place in the city for many years. After saving for awhile, she just bought a new truck. She makes me proud.

I recently tried out another place for a little while, targeted to an autistic user base, and for the most part it was just bad news so I removed myself completely. That’s all I’m gonna say in the public section.

Checking this place out again, it doesn’t appear to have changed much. I like and appreciate that. I see familiar names and long running threads from before. The old school forum format is the only way that really works for me and I’m glad it remains. It’s comforting seeing stability. Therefore I decided to buy lifetime VIP.
