"Bad" things not so bad?

I have been wondering, is there anything that is widely seen as bad or annoying, which you find actually good, or you like?

I was thinking of white noise. It is typically hated, and used in some places as a method of torture (so I've heard). But I find white noise very calming. Especially if it means I can't hear anything else.
Thats the one that I think of straight away, but I'm sure there are plenty more things that i like which most people would avoid like the plague.

Do you have any things you like that the general population would hate?

silence and isolation
thats another one I agree with. I've said to people (before I had a family of my own) that I would be totally ok if I was living in the world by myself. Most people couldn't understand that. And at night, I love it when I go outside and I can hear absolutely nothing. [emoji1]

Actually, it's pretty common to like white noise. It has that calming effect on most people. You probably get sleepy of vacuum cleaner sound as well. Logical and 100% normal, even NT.

Why would some places use it as torture then? Doesn't sound like they would extract much information if their victim is likely to fall asleep! [emoji1]
Vacuum cleaner sound is good but only if it's not one that has a continuous high pitched nasty noise in the background. Kind of like the noise of an old crt tv.

I lurrvvee Ikea instructions :), but have only ever heard people complain about them. For the furniture that I've had from Ikea, the instructions don'thave any words and just have pictures, which suits me down to the ground. All the pictures are acurately drawn and the sequence of instructions doesn't miss anything out. All the information to construct the item is there, just in visual form, it's great :D

Driving slowly. I enjoy taking in the scenery, listening to my music, the feel of the car/bike on the road and calculating how economically I can travel a given distance. I'm happy to follow slow vehicles as that means it's not me holding up the traffic then :)

During the last couple of years before I upgraded from a car, I found that it was much less stressful to drive a couple mph below the speed limit, staying in the "slow" lane, than to leep up with the faster traffic traveling 5-10 mph above the posted limit. Other motorists offered no indication that they cared, since I stayed out of the passing lane at my lower speed.

Now that I get around by bicycle, on the other hand, I tend to ride fast (relative to other bicyclists I encounter).

I was meaning liking something most people don't, but not necessarily because of being aspie, but for any reason.

:snowflake: ☁️ ☔️ cloudy days

I love turbulent weather.. bright sunshine followed quickly by stormy clouds and showers, then the light bursting through again, gentle breezes building up to gusty winds. Autumn in the UK is great for that.. I never understand why everyone else runs for cover.

Well, at certain volume and in certain repetitive pattern everything is annoying. Try listening to your favorite song for 3 hours straight and come back when you get diagnosed with PTSD. :)

Freezing ice cold southerly winds, its sooooo loud but it just feels amazing walking along the coast leaning forward to compensate and feeling chilled to the bone. The sound is intoxicating as if you are just an extension of endless sound and sensation, face red and ears burning with cold, I love it.

Fog. When it's foggy here, the ships on the river sound their horns.
It's a mournful, lonely sound that I can hear in my house. It makes me feel safe and fortunate.

This I love.. I've taken my little sailboat out early on foggy mornings, coasting slowly between boats on their swinging moorings as they loom into view. I'm the only one out there and it feels like I'm the only person in the world at that time.. a mysterious and calming experience!
