Battery for Nikon Coolpix L20 camera?

Topic.

I was taking loads of photos yesterday at Yorkshire Cos Play at the Arena, and about half way through the day the Battery dies on the camera! D'oh!

Does anyone know if I can get a cheap digital camera Battery for this model? Looked on Amazon last night and they don't have accessories for my camera.

Does it have a SD/SDHC memory card? Off the shelf when you bought it, it shipped with a 10 MB memory card. The newer model has an 8 GB memory card, you can buy the larger capacity card for your camera for $7.28 US.

I would replace the memory card first, and then decide on the battery. The viewfinder, image finder suck up a lot of memory, along with whatever pics you save to the camera. So I'd bump up the memory card first, mainly because it's cheaper to do so, and then consider another battery. You might not need to, with a larger capacity memory card.

Small lithium camera batteries seem to work well at first, for years even, then they begin to not really hold a charge very well.

Looks like that camera uses a AA LR6 format alkaline batteries. My browser isn't letting me post the URL from Amazon UK. Formats the link into media format. That's weird. A Xenforo glitch?

Try Googling AA LR6 batteries UK. Energizer HighTech Battery Alkaline LR6 1.5V AA, 8 Batteries

Batteries Plus has them, but of course that's a US link. A local retailer here as well.

I bought a new memory card for the camera last week, so that's not the issue, it's the Battery that's died, I bought a 64 Gig memory card, and I took about 35 photos and a video yesterday so it's not even half full yet.

Also, I am English, I need prices in £ not $.

Thanks but I ain't buying Batteries from America, especially when I'll get stung for import taxes, plus I think the current exchange rate works out about 71p to the Dollar, which could affect the price at my end

Also, because of the different voltage rates, I'd have to buy a US to UK adaptor for the Batteries, more expense.

Look at my post again. Covers your country too. I revised it. For some reason this site isn't letting me post Amazon UK, but I found another British site.

I used to use rechargeable energiser batteries, when I had a digital camera that used AA batteries. Initial cost is more but I found they would last longer in the camera before running out, and of course they can be recharged many many times.

Did you ever get that Bridge or DSLR you talked about in another thread?

I ask as one thing I absolutely love about my Canon SLR is the rechargeable lithium battery. I can take so many uncompressed pictures in the RAW format. Of course I seldom use the LED display, deferring to the viewfinder which takes far less power.

Only thing with rechargeable Batteries is that I know from past experience that the chargers can be a bit expensive, back when I was at College and had the old monochrome Gameboy, I was using recharged Batteries all the time because I went to Argos in Grimsby using my savings from College and bought a charger and 2 packs of Batteries and in total I think it cost me about 25 quid (Around $35 at current exchange rate)

Still saving for the DSLR. :)

Well, you know the saying: "Good things come to those who wait." ;)
That's what I am telling myself. :) Haven't been able to save up much towards it yet, if anything because of bills and other expenses, but I have reduced the food shopping bill this week and hope to make savings in other areas which I can then put towards the camera. My dad is also contributing 50 pounds, which helps.

I hear ya. Whenever I'm trying to save up for something good, something bad usually happens. Bad karma...whatever. "One step forward, two steps backwards."

But for a DSLR it will be worth the wait. Guaranteed. :)

Yeah I went in Poundland last week and bought 2 packs of 12 AAs, I stock up regularly from there, the Batteries are cheap and actually last just as long as stuff like Duracell which can be more than 3 times the price for virtually the same thing.
