I downscaled and got some Reeses Peanut Butter cups. "Contraband", but hey...it's Christmas!

I used to buy seasonal Andes Cherry Mints, but they got to be too much for too little.

Terry's? Ooooh...yummmm....that's decadent!

We have been replacing things reaching the end of life. First it was the well pump control and pressure tank (lightning strike), then the cooktop, and a steam whole house humidifier, then a thermostat. I've replaced the humidifier, got the thermostat in and connected to the network and so far saved $1,200 in parts and labor. Just waiting for the cooktop now and will install it once I get my hands on it. I like my induction cooktops. I really didn't need a smart thermostat, but after the pump fiasco, my HVAC system defaulted to expensive, emergency (electric), heat when water for the geothermal system was unavailable, and at least I could monitor the state of the system via the thermostat if we are away and the pump control should crap out.

That's where the Christmas monies are going. If I could show more savings I might get myself a trilobite.

Nothing. It isn't the time for that. However, I am spoiled. My daughter took me on a nice 3 day trip a couple hundred miles away for Chanukkah.

No presents. I am in the last few years before retirement. All my money is being directed towards investments and eliminating debt. Although, I will be spending a 2-week holiday in Scotland this Spring. :)

We will be hosting Christmas for the relatives at our home. That's good enough for me.

A small jar of Russian caviar, some good cheeses and some Norwegian smoked salmon. My girlfriends and I are going to play Scrabble, drink wine and eat expensive snacks on Wednesday. I got the caviar because one of my friends has never tasted it.

Now, that's a Christmas I can get behind! :)

I already bought myself several tools and a pair of noise cancelling headphones in recent months, so I'm all spent. The best thing I can treat myself to now is giving up worrying about the never-ending house refurb, and just try to relax for a couple of weeks.

Next year is going to be busy, hopefully in a good way. I can write more about that in the presumably soon-to-arrive "What's 2024 got in store for you?" thread.

I had to research, pay close attention to resellers, finally found a studio owner who purchased one but never even used it...just had it hanging on the wall, he sold it through guitar center about as dirt cheap as possible, so I traded in unused equipment and basically paid very little...for a whole lot. It sounds as well as it looks. I am very picky with music equipment, especially guitars, so this was a leap of a purchase. All new Stationals recordings will feature this, now.

I bought a Nintendo Switch OLED, Pokémon Scarlet (with the DLC included), Kirby and the Forgotten Land, $235 in eShop cards, a carrying case for the Switch, and a 512 GB microSD card. I also bought a few packs of Pokémon cards and subscribed to Nintendo Switch Online as well.

I went out and bought a decent 5qt dutch oven pot that l can even bake bread in. Also bought a cold brew coffee glass pitcher that has a fancy filter that l can also make cold brew tea with. And beautiful everyday glasses to serve water, juice, seltzer.
