Before I Self Destruct

Hello Aspies, I've been lurking around these parts for about 6 months. I'm 30 years old and undiagnosed, but fairly certain i'm somewhere on the spectrum. This has been the first time in my life I've been forced to question my own sanity, and it has been humbling to say the least. I recently moved back in with my parents in Alabama after going through an awakening/mental meltdown, during which I decided to quit my job in Hollywood. While experiencing this episode I became obsessed with the idea of living money-free and have since been unable to function in society/jobs. My parents are wonderful people, but will only tolerate me on a temporary basis. I am now researching local homeless camps/shelters and plan to be homeless within the next two weeks. It is scary, but I hope somewhere out there I will find a way to break through this barrier I've built between myself and the world. Wish me luck!

I love the artwork. Smooth strong lines. You've got talent.

Why homeless? What's in your head there?
Is it an escape? Throw away the responsibilities in your life?
Is it an attempt to reconnect with humanity? Removing the layers of society.

Of course being homeless is hard work.

Hey 7thGenSS

You're really talented and you definitely want to do what you love.

I really hope you can share a few things you like with us, because I'm sure we certainly like them! =D

I'm hoping this experience will answer those questions for me. While I know it is an escape from returning to the 9-5 grind, i'm not going to pretend as if it will be an easy way out. I hope that through this experience I can reconnect with myself as well as the world around me. I've spent the majority of my life taking the easy road and avoiding my issues, so I see this path as a way to force myself to deal with those issues. I've been terrified by the thought of being homeless since becoming unemployed, so why not just embrace it and face that fear.

p.s. Thanks for the compliment. The art is done in Illustrator, hence the smooth linework.

I am obsessed with art and music to a fault. Unfortunately, I haven't had enough stability in my life to focus on those hobbies this year. I do plan on spending more time in the studio as soon as I am in tune with my higher self again.

A few things I love:

TV Comedy i.e. Peep Show, Little Britain, Summer Heights High

Abstract Animation i.e. Cat Soup, Kaiba, Dead Leaves, all things Miyazaki

Music i.e. Air, Bibio, Ulrich Schnauss, Eats Everything

Artists i.e. Mars-1, Oliver Vernon, Android Jones

Your signature! (Dr. Seuss is just incredible)

Anyway, thanks for the warm greets. Its nice to meet you all.
