Boredom is not a condition in which I typically
find myself. I don't understand the children I
have seen saying "I'm bored." My neighbor
babysits children who do that. They expect
another person to supply ideas for their activity.

I don't remember ever telling my mother I was
bored when I was a child. I don't say it now,
either.

Sometimes I get the impression that people
use the phrase "I'm bored," as a sort of come
on, as if they believe it is a provocative remark
that will engage the attention of another person.

There is nothing about hearing "I'm bored" that
makes me feel----'Here is an interesting person.'
