ADELE BELIEVE IT: Brave schoolgirl living with Asperger’s sings incredible Adele cover in bid to show strength to bullies who pelted her home with eggs

A BRAVE schoolgirl living with Asperger’s syndrome has shown she won’t be defeated by the vile bullies who tormented her for over two years.

Starlet Taylor Gilmour, 16, – who loves singing in her mum’s bathroom – has posted a video on Facebook of her incredible Adele cover, All I Ask, ten weeks after a spate of bullying forced her to move schools.

Taylor Gilmour was forced to move schools in March

In February we told how bullies reportedly called Taylor names, shamed her on social media and pelted her home with eggs while wearing Scream masks one Halloween.

Around 15 masked thugs are said to have targeted Taylor’s home in Barrhead, East Renfrewshire, while her mother cradled her new-born baby.

After several talks with Taylor’s school over her behaviour, relationships and ongoing bullying, as well as writing to MSP Kirsten Oswald for support, Taylor’s mum Margaret Gilmour, 38, decided to move her to a new school for her fifth year.

A support worker for people with disabilities, Margaret told how Taylor’s Asperger’s manifests itself in “obsessive” tendencies – which has helped showcase her talents but also causes a great deal of stress.

Proud Margaret says Taylor can tell you the lyrics to any song, has won school talent shows and practices her impressive vocals every day – but had stopped singing publicly after she was forced to move schools in March.

Now, having finished her fourth year exams with glowing reports from her teachers, Taylor has released a video of herself singing on Facebook – proving that abuse won’t stop her doing what she loves.

Taylor belted out the Adele ballad in a Facebook video

Margaret said: “Taylor absolutely loves her new school – she said it’s nice to be included in classrooms and joining in conversations, rather than being the topic of them.

“She has made new group of friends and is out every weekend, which is a big change from sitting in her room constantly.

“It’s a huge weight off my mind – when she goes to school I’m not sitting waiting on my phone going or having to pick her up.

“She comes in at the end of the day and tells me all about it.”

Before Taylor moved school she had launched her own YouTube channel, inspired by Instagram idol Jamie Genevieve – but cruel comments on her page put her off posting her songs online.

Margaret added: “It made her feel like she wasn’t good at what she was doing.

“She’s got lot of trust issues after the bullying and is frightened to let herself be herself with people.

“But she’s had so many positive comments through family and friends – she is confident and feeling happier within herself.

“Now she’s doing work experience to take up time over summer.”
