Can Anyone Explain This FB issue?

I have recently searched for a couple of people on FB, thinking to friend them. I found two. When I went back later, it's like they don't exist! I know that I didn't imagine seeing their page, but last night I went to make a friend request and her page does not come up in my search result. So I asked my husband to log in under his account and search for this person, and her page came right up. Could she have blocked me somehow? Is it possible to block someone you are not friends with or somehow stop them from finding them?
 
Unfortunately it does mean she has blocked you! And yes, you can block without being friends!

It could possibly be a quirk of their crappy search engine. At one point when me and my relatives were branching out to people we knew, sometimes the only way me or my sis could find a person is if we went to our mom's friendslist and added them from there. And there were some that would not come up on my mom's searches so she had to go to my or my sister's page.
 
But was it all on the same computer? Because when I search from my computer and my account, her FB page doesn't come up, but when I use another computer and account, I see her page.
 
Well, I just deleted my entire FB account. I hardly ever go on there anymore anyway and I figure if somebody is really my friend they won't use FB to communicate with me.
 
Aye, sometimes we'd try from the same computer with the same connection. Really weird search engine on Facebook...

I would recommend MySpace as an alternative, but they have done... strange and unmentionable things to their website. Last time I went browsing through there I saw a set of genitalia in two different avatars. :eek:
