Can you describe the area surrounding your house?

I live, sadly, in a very urban place, small but very crowded town. Palms and banana trees. A walking distance from my house are busy streets with many stores and restaurants, supermarkets, and many bus stations.

But what interests me is the feral cats. we have zillions of them, and they leap from garbage cans and run all over yards and the sidewalks. I saw a fat one settling lazily in front of the meat shop, waiting to be fed. no squirrels. barely any mice or rats. they have been eaten.

how about your immediate area?

Rural, plenty of trees, but we're technically in city limits so there are houses closer by than I like. Lots of pet dogs, they like to come into our yard at night and make our little rat/chihuahua bark.

sounds like the kind of place i'd like to be... execpt for houses too close. and i love pet dogs, the friendly ones, of course

Water, water, everywhere and not a drop to drink.. cos I live on a boat. Fairly rural, lots of ducks, swans, rats and voles, the occasional canoeist. I love all the animal life, except the vermin.. their canoes jam up the traps. Aaarr!! :D

I love water. I think many autistic people do. love swans and ducks, not sure about rats, though. I love being on boats, but I get sea sick, and that's not fun.

I live in a small city in southwest Idaho. It's mostly rural around here, but I live in a sub-division. My neighborhood is full of manicured yards with green lawns and flower beds. My wife makes sure that I keep the grass cut and the yard looking good. We live in a typical house in a typical neighborhood.

Behind my building is a back lane that receives a remarkably large amount of traffic. That is followed by some offices, a major thoroughfare, and a decent-sized park. At the corner is a church. The front street is more dangerous than the back lane. There are a lot of black people in the area, but they are not the ones who are dangerous. Maybe The Penguin should come live here.

I live in an older urban residential development. The street is tree-lined and has gutters, sidewalks and streetlights. Old houses, mostly 30's, 40's and 50's. My house was built in the 1930's, and it's a basic two-bedroom, one-bath bungalow with no more than 625 square feet. Nothing fancy about it at all. I have a huge lot because the house is so small. My cats love it. It's a pretty good neighborhood except for one house across the street. That's the neighborhood crack house or something. The police hit it every couple of weeks or so. Many of my neighbors and I have lived there for many years. It's unfortunate, but some of the newer residents are sort of prejudice or something. They won't smile, wave, say "Hello" ... nothing. They just give you dirty looks. I always wave, smile and say "Hi!" I'm sure it annoys them to no end. :) I would like to move eventually though, but I don't know if I'll ever be able to afford to. :(

In the front view, a public park of about 30 metres square. Looking through my window (back sight) I can see the river with tall green grass on its sides; from my brother's window you can see the rear of a house where a dog barks at anything that moves, and finally on the right side there's the parking and, far beyond, more river.

too bad the dog's barking probably bothers your sensitive aspie ears.

I live in a typical yet slightly old fashioned english suburb (built circa 1922), fortunately the area I live in is very quiet and everything is quite spread out. Lots of the houses are semi-detached, but I live on the end of a row of 4 houses joined together. the view from the front of the houss is just a quiet street and a bunch of houses opposite.. and a few large trees. the view from the back is just gardens, the back of some other houses, and then a load of trees - my garden backs onto the city cemetery which is a big open space with a lot of woodland - which opens out onto a big public park, and beyond that is just countryside with the occasional cottage or fancy country manor. I'm in quite a good geographical location - right on the edge of town, where the countryside is literally just around the corner. I don't have to walk very far when I want some peace and quiet for a while. I like it here, and honestly can't imagine living anywhere else - I have tried, I had to move to bristol temporarily for university and I just couldn't settle in, because this is where I grew up, and is the only place where I feel at home.

My village is very peaceful and a very respectful place. It is small and the villagers are really respectful. The village has no shops, half is surrounded by fields and a large forest filled with wildlife. The other half is farms and a local football and rugby ground. This is in my opinion the perfect place but it has minor dis advantages. Like internet isn't as good but its fine, at night its dark and spooky. Other than that everything here is perfect

At the end of our garden, there's fields that eventually back onto the marina where there is much water, many boats.. and, well, the river.

The other way, there's about 4 or 5 posh houses, which - with the exception of next-door as they're nice - are mostly occupied by old dears that are constantly popping over to try and convince us to attend the boring parish council meetings.

Town is about a mile down the road and the road is the only way in from the city centre (a further 10 miles away), which means the road is always busy and a nightmare to cross if you're anything like me.

I live on the outskirts of a small village which is practically deserted in winter, but busy with tourists in summer. There are thatched cottages on both sides of my house, both holiday lets, but there aren't any other homes nearby, just a boat yard.

The front of the house over looks our boats and the garden which abuts the river, which, like the village, is quiet in winter, but very busy with yachts and cruisers in summer. On the other side of the river are reed beds and a few trees for as far as you can see, they're a lovely gold at the moment.

To the back of the house there is a marina, full of ridiculously expensive boats which almost never move, the back garden and drive (which is flooded at the moment and has ducks swimming about on it) and the gravel road which leads to the village.

The city I live in is of medium size, I live in an area, not that far from the centre of the town, with bungalows, most of them built in the 70s, the gardens are all in the back of the houses. It's a quiet area, no driving through. I rarely see my neighbours, but when we do we say hello. That's about it. I'm glad to have the privacy. The house has 3 bedrooms, and a fairly big living room.
