Yes, there is quite a bit of animosity for Temple Grandin because she has this attitude that Autistic children can be made to learn an be like neurotypicals even if a parent has to force them to be neurotypicals. And besides what does this has to do with what I posted? So I would appreciate if we get back on topic again. Now you know why I don't particularly like to post here.

Who? Don't talk in riddles. So lets discuss this like adults instead of acting like a bunch of bullies picking on someone with Autism. We have to deal with bullies all of the time and I come here and get the same thing. At least I was professionally diagnosed. What about the rest of you who can't even carry on an intelligent conversation?

Candy Waters, the artist. I'm not talking in riddles. Do you not know what a savant is? If not I'd be more than happy to explain it to you. Excuse me, I CAN carry on an intelligent conversation and now I feel you are bullying me.

I don't believe anyone is picking on you.

Your signature shows every time you post.
The section of your signature which is in red is
all in CAPS with 5 "Angry Faces". [Example = :mad:.]

If you aren't inviting comment or discussion about
the topic in your signature, maybe you should try
a new signature. Or state in your signature that
you aren't open to comments about those topics.

Otherwise, how is anyone to know that you don't want
to talk about what you are "shouting" about in your
signature each time you make a post? o_O

Let me tell you something you are the ones that went off topic refusing to read my links. I absolutely know what a Savant is because I'm a professional artist or will I have to prove this to you. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that Candy Waters is not gifted. I'm not blaming Candy but trying to get support for her against her no good conniving mother who is using her to make money. So please do, check out my links.

People have been complaining about this mother long before I even heard of a Candy Waters and just happen to come across her on facebook taking a closer look. If you want to support Candy Waters and save her from her mother than sign the petition. In fact there is a facebook page called "Candy Waters Autistic Artist Boycott".

You are because you went off topic without even checking into what it says on my signature or asking me for a link. I do my homework before I start spewing words.
 
I supposed that using:
"AUTI$M $PEAK$ DOESN'T SPEAK FOR ME AND NEITHER DO TEMPLE GRANDIN.
:mad: :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad:" as a signature statement for every post made implied
intellectual investment in those concepts. The person who uses this for
a signature line doesn't want to discuss it with people who comment, though.

I pointed out that the person who remarked on it probably got the idea that
'Temple Grandin' was a subject of interest to Dirtdigger, since that name is
included in each post Dirtdigger makes.

Crossbreed : It appears that Dirtdigger's thoughts/feelings regarding
the topics in red in her signature aren't up for discussion. It looked likely
that they would be, but apparently not.

Dirt digger, do not insult members here. Everyone's opinion counts. We do not have "formal diagnosis elitism" here.

We do not all agree with your views on Dr. Grandin. I think she's wonderful. Perhaps I may disagree with her on some topics, but I'm grateful she adds her voice to the world's understanding.

Regarding the original topic:
Brilliance and phenomenal talent have nothing to do with the ability to speak, nor with neurotype. I know many super-talented autistics, both non-speaking and speaking. I have no problem believing Candy has amazing talent. I loooooove that flower!

I do not understand the petition's concern for Candy's safety. It is a colossal leap from the assumptions and projections of potentially falsifying art, to someone being in danger.

I do not know these parents, but I can imagine they cherish a unique, sensitive, talented daughter, and I am cheering Candy on, delighted her skills are getting recognition. Autism is as much about our strengths as our challenges.

How does anyone know whether the parents are
paying income tax on the proceeds of the sales of
their daughter's work?

I read the message in the link yesterday and wondered
about that.

It is not 'automatic' that teens pay no income tax.
When a minor's earned income exceeds the amount of the
standard deduction, then the minor's earned income is
subject to taxation.

Interesting point tree. Aren't taxes paid public records though? I always thought they were but I honestly don't know.
