career choices

Ones that de-emphasize social interaction & allow for a lot of autonomy. Careers involving com[uter tech, lab tech, maths & engineering also tend to work for Aspies. For those creative Aspies, finding a way to make your passion profitable is great. Writing can be good. Teaching is often good for us too since you're the only adult in your classroom & the kids are to busy being kids to notice & bug you about being different.

I would highly recommend working with animals! Zoo keeper, veterinarian, marine biologist, animal therapy, park ranger and
many more! Animals are a good source of stress reduction.:D

The career has to be something that interests the Aspies, something that makes Aspies feel ok and comfortable, and most important of all, bring more money and energy to Aspies than what the Aspies have to give up. :)

I would recommend do something that has to do with your passions and interests. I found that I loved phone counseling, I love social work and working with people who are suffering because I can be the objective view point I don't have to connect in the same way. I love social work or psychology but only because it shows me coping skills that I get to try out in social situations that are good to practice.

For those neat freak Aspies out there who are hyper organized, becoming professional organizers is a viable option. This doesn't just mean helping people clean up their messiness, it also means setting up functional spaces from the get-go. Interior design & office design can work too. I find that having intimate contact with the tasks to be accomplished works much etter for us than having to interact constantly with people.
