This poll is for the classic American dish, chili!

Do you like it, and if you like it, how do you like it?

Big nope for me. Too many flavors all mixed up together. I prefer separation in my flavors.

I have a dead set recipe, actually. I go for flavor compared to those who prefer "heat" of spices. Meat and beans, and I love it smothering a hot dog (turkey dogs of late, as my diet changed so much).

I was raised on Chili. Probably through the influence of one of Dad's best friends...from Texas.

Lots of barbecues at his place....on Guam. Yeah- He's the one who nicknamed me "Judge".

I always enjoy a bowl of chili...and not too particular about it either. Though it can be fun to find things at the bottom of the bowl...like a tamale or a beef patty.

I've never had a chili I didn't like. Homemade, canned, with beans, without beans, vegan, on a hot dog, in a bowl, eaten with tortilla chips, with added cheese and hot sauce, with onions, etc.

Oh boy, usually the chili is mixed with a carbohydrate as a dish here. Such as chili as the marinara on spaghetti. Or on crackers. Or mixed with cheeses in a burrito. Sometimes the main ingredient in an omelette.... So far that is the limit of my imagination regarding chili. Maybe it will loosen that rusty bolt in the shop? :)
I wonder how you guys serve it?

I love chili, too. Sometimes I make what I call a taco salad by putting layers in a bowl in this order: shredded lettuce, crumbled corn tortilla chips, chili, garnishments or "fixings" on top of shredded cheddar cheese, dollop of sour cream, pickled jalapeno slices, drizzled with fresh lime juice. Yum.

I have an American friend who makes that mystical thing the Americans call chili, I haven't had the pleasure of trying it yet but I hope I will one day. I would like to try a spicy one, mucho fuego with everything, beans, meat and whatever else they put in it.
