Christmas favourite carols

My favorite is Good King Wenceslas.

An unusual one I enjoy hearing is Gaudete.

My favorite English folk rock group is Steeleye Span.

We have a famous choir here called Sølvguttene, it means "The Silver Boys". Every Christmas they do this and it's broadcast on national tv, it's a nice tradition.

^Those are both some of my favorites as well!

Too early for me to be thinking about Christmas carols though, I’m just starting to get excited for Halloween lol

Christmas is my favorite holiday. Actually the only one I really am aware of or celebrate besides birthdays. And now that I mention it Christmas is actually a birthday.

And it's never too early to start! So here is my anual roundup of strange Holiday Albums.

I think this was considered cheerful back in the day, but sure is the stuff of nightmares now.

I can't even imagine what this sounded like. But certainly a strange album cover. Futuristic Robots. Santa looks a lot like Grizzly Adams, which I guess makes sense since it was a late 70s TV show. But the little robot on the left caught my eye especially.

The sacrificial clown goes in the fire?

;)

I’m not a Christian, but I think that “Silent Night” and “O Holy Night” are beautiful melodies. I like depressing Christmas music. “Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer” makes me think about taking up hunting…

I like this one, "O Holy Night", in Norwegian. Originally this was actually a French poem called "Minuit, Chrétiens", written by Placide Cappeau.

O Holy Night is my favourite, hands-down, but it had already been mentioned.

Favourite sentimental versions:

Because wow. ^

Makes me cry every. single. time. ^

Reminds me of my dad, who passed away on O Holy Night itself, Christmas Eve.

My favorite is the day after Holoween. A Dia de los Muertos themed ceramic from Josephina Aguilar that I picked up at her workshop.

I successfully complained to my local shopping center and got them to stop playing traditional christmas carols.

Chrismas is supposed to be a happy and cheerful time of year and all the music they were playing sounded like mournful funereal dirges. For a lot of people christmas is a very lonely and depressing time and playing music that makes them dream of a luke warm bath and razor blades is not very community spirited.

I can’t stand most happy Christmas songs. They put me in a rotten mood. My noise canceling headphones should help with that this year as long as I can find them…

I have a special place in my heart for Michael Martin Murphy's Christmas album as I was spending Christmas at Yellowstone NP Snowshoeing and XC-skiing. Some days were -26 F.
