Bedford LOAF Christmas party held at Great Denham
Christmas cheer was in full swing for children as they enjoyed a festive party with their families thanks to a generous donation.
The party was organised by Bedford LOAF (loads of autistic fun), an inclusive playgroup for children with autism aged from birth to 12. LOAF is one of the many programmes run by local charity Autism Bedfordshire.
The event, held at Great Denham Primary School, was supported by Amazon in Milton Keynes. The fulfilment centre provided Autism Bedfordshire with a £500 donation so they could throw a party for the children, their siblings, parents and carers. The children met Father Christmas, enjoyed some festive music and opened presents with their families.
Autism Bedfordshire received the donation from Amazon following a nomination for support by the fulfilment centre’s charity committee.
Amazon Milton Keynes general manager Ashley Cowen said: “Autism Bedfordshire is a fantastic local organisation that helps many children in the region and our charity committee was very keen to provide this support. The LOAF programme is a great initiative and I hope all the children, their families and carers had a lovely time at the Christmas party.”
Emma Reade, senior manager of Autism Bedfordshire, added: “As autism can be a very isolating condition, LOAF gives families somewhere they can go where they feel accepted and valued. The children who attend LOAF enjoy a range of fun activities, supported by specialist trained staff and the parents benefit from a short break and the opportunity to talk to others in a similar situation. The Christmas party has been a brilliant event for our children and we’re absolutely over the moon to receive this support from the team at Amazon in Milton Keynes.”
