Clockwatching

I've put this in the "random discussion" bit because I'm not entirely sure if it is spectrum related.

I am an almost obsessive clockwatcher.

If I'm waiting for something - for my other half to get home from work, a train, an appointment - I will constantly check the time, finding only a minute or two has passed every time I look. Its infuriating because I can't help it and I get irritated at time going so slowly.

I also find I get really agitated and annoyed when something is running late, even by a few minutes... I made the bloody effort to make sure I was there early so I didn't miss it... its not hard to keep time!

I used to watch the clock in grade school.
I wasn't waiting for any particular event.

I liked watching the second hand move and
used to time myself: How long could I hold
my breath? Or how quickly could I say the
entire alphabet?

All. The. Time! I am always wearing a watch and when I forgot to wear it, I'm always checking my wrist and getting agitated because I don't know what time it is. I keep my phone near me and I'm always picking it up to check the time. I obsess over it. I always plan carefully how long it will take to get somewhere because I like to arrive 5 minutes early. If we are running a minute or two behind, I start getting anxious. I don't like being late and I don't like when others are late.

I only do this when waiting for something too, even if it's just waiting until the tie we have to leave for something.

Oh heck YES I am exactly that what you describe!

I currently do not have a watch and in truth, I hate it because I feel well, like I am missing something if I do not know what the time is.

I have to ask people for a specific time; never can deal with: 6ish or thereabouts. but of course, that is their way of a get out clause, so to speak, but for me, it drives me up the wall and even when it is an exact time, I look at my watch and say to my husband: they are late; when it is just one second late lol

Even when with others, I am obsessed with looking at the clock and then actually cut someone off mid sentence and say: time to sit down!

Needless to say, I am punctual; but married to a very inpunctual man and so, am often late and HATE IT; causes my whole day to go out of whack!

I have to have my phone close by at all times to check the time. I can't wear a watch, it drives me insane having one on my wrist.

I'm the same with being late - I hate being late, I feel like I'm being a nuisance and going to cause a confrontation because of it so I'm always at least 5-10 minutes early for everything, and if I'm not I get anxious.

Its so annoying because watching the time makes everything go so. much. slower! and I get fidgety waiting.

As a kid I didn't so much watch the clock but listen to the ticking. It was calming. And I remember thinking to myself on one occasion that one day, when *a lot* of ticks had passed, I would be out of that situation, out of home and somewhere better.

I also check the time every few minutes when I'm out and heading to some appointment. Or just when I'm feeling anxious and need something, anything, to distract.

Ticking makes me want to take a hammer to the clock lol.

Once I notice it I can't stop hearing it and it drives me nuts

I am always watching the time. I always wear a watch except at night when I am in bed. At night, there is clock radio on the dresser. It has extra big numbers so that I can read it with out my glasses. The thing is, I do not worry about schedules at all. I just need to know what time it is at any given moment. I have been this way for as long as I can remember. Because I almost always know what time it is, I am rarely late for anything. I also do not use a alarm clock, I just make a mental note when I need to get up and then wake up at that time.

I constantly check the clock I find it strangely comforting. I carry my phone and my watch at all times. I'm constantly early places and people being late irritates me to no end.

Yep, It happends to me too. I'm always early when I go to class, I can't be late even if I try to be late, and unpunctuality makes me angry.

In my country is very common for people to be late so when I'm goint to a reunion or something I give 5-10min of grace but I get really mad inside.

When I go out or have a medical appointment or anything at a specific hour I'm always checking my watch and I'm like "ok it is time...ok, it's a minute late, ..."

I'm not a clockwatcher, but I do get annoyed when people arrive at church right at the last minute, just as we're about to start, and instead of grabbing a hymn book and finding a seat, they faff and fart at the back, then get in the way when I'm trying to process with the cross. When there were more of us servers and we processed with candles as well, I was always afraid there'd be a terrible accident if somebody got in the way of one of the candles. At least I don't have to worry about that now I'm the only server and only the cross is carried.

When I was sidesman in a different church, people were always strolling in late, and that was so frustrating as it spoilt the service for me as I couldn't get into it.
