Coffee machine and accessories for high-end coffee . . .

. . .

I spent much of yesterday looking into coffee machines and accessories. I want to grind my own coffee beans and brew my own coffee using something other than a drip machine. Hopefully this will allow me to "rediscover" coffee.

I'm not too fond of coffee, but I'm pretty sure I'll enjoy it more if I start brewing it differently and use higher-end beans.

So far, here's the machine and the accessories I wish to get which will allow me to brew superior coffee:

. Aeropress coffee machine (coffee aficionados love these. Seemingly most people who've used them prefer them to French presses)

. Electric kettle (still not sure which one I want; still doing research. I want to invest in something good)

. Filter pitcher (not sure which one I want yet. I imagine almost anything would work adequately)

. Porlex coffee grinder (this manual grinder sounds really promising. I believe that these can only be purchased in Japan, but you can find them on Ebay for an alright price)

I initially was going to get a French press, but after many people on a site recommended the Aeropress I decided to look into it. It indeed sounds really promising so I will likely go through with purchasing it.

Anyway: What coffee machine and accessories do you use? Do any of you own and/or have used an Aeropress coffee machine?

I'm still loyal to those traditional Italian stove-top ones. (Bialetti!). You have to experiment a bit to suit your tastes (coffee to water ratio, grind, how much you compact the coffee...) but the results are fantastic once you perfect it... and it's less potent than $1000 machine espresso, so you can serve it to guests who are used to regular coffee with out assaulting their taste buds.

I am a member of the AASCA(Australian Speciality Coffee Association) I am friends with roasters, if you want good coffee, and got the money, it starts with the coffee of course! there are plenty of wonderful CoE(cup of excellence) coffee, I think the Guatemalans, and Nicaraguans should be coming in 4-6weeks time.

if you got the dough get a Mazzer grinder and a Synesso. I had a Rancillio but I sold it for a fully automatic, Egro. :)

Aeropress is good for quick brews, but you will need a grinder. French press' are okay but you got to give it a good 4-5 minutes. Moka pots are quite efficent though. I use the french press to pack a flask, and they do a decent job.
