One of my long-standing mini obsessions is coffee (and similar drinks like teas, etc).

What's your favorite?
How do you take your coffee?
Do you go out and get drinks?
Tea?

Post anything related. :)

i drink both expresso (plain coffee) and caramel frappe/frappuchino

i drink it either w/o sugar, or blended ice with whipped cream

i go to starbucks to get my fix of coffee, but i'm ok with other coffee stores/stalls

I actually hate Starbucks, lol. I went to one in Seattle and they totally destroyed my cappuccino.

Anyways, I like to go to cafes to drink coffees. My favourite is the cappuccino, but I'm also partial to a flat white. I take two sugars with my coffees.

With tea, I like po lei, which is a fermented Chinese tea. I also like Oolong and Earl Grey. No milk for me, thanks :)

I was obsessed with coffee until my 1st pregnancy. Then for 3 years I couldn't stand taste of coffee in my mouth, I started drinking coffee again during my second pregnancy. Now I can only drink certain types of coffee (like mocha coconut from Starbucks before the coconut it was regular mocha) or the cold bottled coffee drinks (usually mocha). At home most of the time I just drink bottled spring water (not the purified one, it tastes funny, doesn't matter which brand). I do like drinking black tea with milk when it's cold outside.

I particularly like iced coffee. The H-E-B (a Texas-based grocery store chain) near me used to sell these little 50 cent cans of iced coffee from Taiwan that I liked in their little imported Asian foods section (I don't know if they're still sold there or not). They became sort of my regular morning drink for a little while while I was in college.

I love coffee! Black, no sugar. When I was in Europe I got into the habit of having it with milk, but in the States, only black.

Going out and getting drinks: I rarely drink alcohol, perhaps a white wine with dinner every once in awhile. Overall, I do not care for alcohol.

I really like Earl Grey tea (with milk).

If you like the coffees.... I recommend the keurig elite unit... It make coffee that's very good. You can make it with filtered water. I think coffee & gourmet drink overall is one of my wife's super intense interests

I'm rather basic with coffee myself, and usually am happy with normal dark roasts with milk. At Starbucks, I always get a vanilla latte (usually iced). Depending where I am it's either one of those.

Frappuccino's are way too sweet and ice-creamy for my taste. When I worked at a Starbucks, it was always the drink people got to feel like they're drinking coffee without actually drinking coffee. So many people complain about Starbucks, I say it's like McDonalds- it's of course not the top quality you can get, but it does taste good and it is easy. I've worked there and at a smaller coffee place, and I think that the mix is pretty even of what Starbucks does better or what the average independent place does better.

I don't like things with too much sweetness, and whipped cream, or general fluffiness. I think cappuccinos are kind of a waste- because it's essentially the same ingredients as a latte- just with less drink and a more awkward texture. The best flavors are kept simple, my favorites are vanilla and cinnamon. Almond is also surprisingly good, but I rarely see it anywhere.

But one that I particuarly got a taste for (after a cold day in here in Europe) was liquor and coffee/latte mixed- particuarly Amaretto or Bailey's. If I didn't have such a constant coffee habit I would get more of those.

Yay! Coffee art!

My mum works in a cafe, she gets to work the coffee machine and if she ever has time, she'll draw a little leaf in the foam.

I really love coffee art.
I always like interesting food presentations in general...of course, I think it's ridiculous for me to pay extra for it, but I always appreciate it otherwise. [It's always easier than it looks, btw. So if you want to easily impress someone, that's usually a good trick]

Where in Europe, if you don't mind me asking?

It's interesting because different places have different idea of what's the "standard" way to take coffee.
It seems like the majority of people drink black coffee here (Netherlands), judging from how often I have to run back and ask for milk. But in the UK, milk is pretty much standard with all your hot drinks.
There's also seems to be a "norm" on when you drink coffee. In the states, if you drink late you have to have a reason to [usually]. Like it's a distinctively morning/I need energy nowdrink. Here, it's relatively normal to have coffee at 8 pm just because.

From what I gathered anyhow, I could be wrong of course.
:P

Thank-you for your reply.

I was in The Netherlands. I spent time in Amsterdam, primarily, but was also in Monnickendam and Marken.

My plan was to arrive in Amsterdam, spend a few days there and make my way to Berlin (I am German, by heritage), but instead simply stayed in Holland, such a beautiful country. I hope to live in Europe someday.

Regards,
-Matthew

I'd love to have all my coffee in France, where they seem to perfect coffee-making. But first, some knowledge of French would be helpful

I really like French style coffee, but haven't tried it in France- which I hope to do so soon. My prediction is I'll like it better than Italian style, which is what I think Starbucks and most coffee in America tries to base themselves off of.

What do you think of coffee in Singapore? :)

Yes I love Holland, and Amsterdam is really nice (and a short train ride from where I live) and is one of the few big cities that I really love (mostly because the majority of it doesn't feel like a big city to me). I've never been to Monnickendam and Marken though.

Where I live (Utrecht) is really nice also...there's this massive canal running in the middle of the city, with a bunch of cafes lined against it underneath the streets and houses. It's kind of difficult to explain, so I put a picture in case you've never been...but I'm guessing because it's a massive college town, there's a ridiculous amount of interesting cafes around here and places to just sit and zone out.

So I recently learned the Starbucks in Holland has an Irish Cream flavor...it tastes surprisingly close to Bailey's.
It's awesome.

I usually have coffee from my Senseo. And, if I'm at a store which sells them, I'll bring home some Senseo Black Coffee pads. It's kinda strong, but I like it that way. If they don't have those, I'll go for the strongest they have around.

Most of the time I drink it black, sometimes I put one of two of those little sweets in it. I hate milk in my coffee. Oddly enough I do however, fill up my coffee with Baileys sometimes. That kind of creaming doesn't bother me as much as milk does. It's probably an alcohol thing.

I once had coffee Mr. Bean style. Had a jar of instant coffee (also of the same Black type as above) and I took a couple of spoons in my mouth. Added some lukewarm water and gargled it a bit, while I was on my way to the train.
