Common in Aspies?

LostInSilentHill

Terrible Gaurdian Angel
As a child when I got anxious or over whelmed I became very 'silly' and inappropriate. I often had to leave class or was put in time-out. Even as a teenager, this was a huge problem.

I know meltdowns are common when overwhelmed or stressed, and though I had those quite often, they only happened at home. What about this 'silliness'?

Same, I believe it was a coping mechanism, slide of hand, because I didn't want to look stupid in front of other people. I would rather look silly than unintelligent, I was very smart but demand anxiety caused me to avoid certian work, plus a lack of interest in certian subjects. Also my nerves are crazy and my heart beats fast when I have this anxiety, I also sometimes felt others energy and couldn't ignore it no matter how much the teacher redirected me.

That pretty much explains my school experience in a nutshell. But it was the bullying that made it a hopeless cause for me.

In 7th grade held the record for most detentions, AND suspensions in a single year. I didn't care, I was proud of my accomplishment. I don't blame the principal for telling me to drop out when I was 16, I gave them hell, questioned teachers, corrected them, beat up boys who thought they were tough, beat up girls who picked on the weak. I was all over.

I was always one of the good kids. I was very quiet and well behaved. Too quiet, actually, so I got picked on.

I remember singing in chorus and suddenly being told to get out, I was so confused. The teacher kept saying that I knew very well what I was doing....I really didn't. Now that I think of it I was probably singing too loudly. I have auditory sensory problems, and sometimes I get very loud without being aware of it. My daughter does this also.
