Computer destroyed my video!

Okay, so I was working on this video project. It was long and I worked pretty hard on it. Tonight I finally rendered it. It took almost an hour and made my computer heat up a lot but I thought it'd be worth it.
So a little later I went to delete the project file and material. I accidentally deleted the rendered file as well, but I thought, no big deal, I can go to the Recycle Bin and restore the rendered video. I've done that hundreds of times.
So I went into the Recycle Bin and what do I find? No project. No rendered file. Just the material I'd used.
That's IT.
The rendered file and project are nowhere to be found. I restored everything in the RB and I'm searching my whole computer over but no luck.
I AM EXTREMELY ANGRY. I WORKED SO HARD AND LONG ON THAT PROJECT AND MY COMPUTER JUST THREW IT AWAY!
Okay, so now I have some questions. First of all, how the CRAP did this even happen? How did those two certain files, out of dozens, get picked to be thrown away permanently? And is there any possible way I could get either one back? Or am I just going to have to take all that time over to reconstruct the project?
One thing's for sure, no matter what happens I WILL finish this project and I WILL back it up to several devices immediately and it WILL go on YouTube NO MATTER WHAT.
FML FML FML FML FML!!!

Generally, Windows will ask if something is too big to fit in the recycle bin. But, if it was small enough to fit, but too big to fit with everything else, and it happened to be the first thing into the recycle, it could be dumped to make space for the rest, right?
If you're desperate, and you haven't written anything to the drive since, there are undelete tools that might be able to recover it. Maybe.

what rendering software are you using? What is the file extension of a rendered file from it and did you actually save it as anything?

I don't think the file was too big. It was about 25 minutes long and a .wmv file. I didn't see how many GB it was. The project material, put together, is 54 minutes long and 25.1 GB, which is probably more space than the rendered file was. What's the RB's limit?? I didn't know it had one.
And yes, I saved it as the project's name with .wmv at the end. I use Sony Vegas Pro 8.
While taking these measurements I also noticed that some of my project material's been deleted too. So now I'll probably have to re-record that. UGH!
I have been making videos for almost ten years and this has never happened to me.

Okay, so I looked at the RB's properties and it said the capacity was about 25 GB... WTF? I never knew it had a limit before. Well, I can modify it, so I set it to 100 GB (with me you can never be too careful about these things). But it's too late to get back my deleted files and that makes me want to SMASH this stupid machine!

Apart from this one of many videos on this subject, try googling "lost files with Sony Vegas Pro 8". Or "restoring lost sessions with Sony Vegas Pro 8".

Apparently you aren't alone. Your file may still be on your drive.....somewhere.

Cool video. I followed the instructions and found two old restored projects from other videos I've done, but not this particular one. I think they're from Vegas crashing and then giving me the option to restore the project - and that creates an entirely new project called "000000.restored", so I have two slightly different copies. I never had Vegas crash on me during this project, so it didn't create a backup. :/ Or maybe it did and I chose to get back into the main file instead of restoring it.
Oh well. Thanks anyway. I've wondered where those backup projects were stored, anyway. (So I could delete them. :p )

So far I have tried two file restoration programs and neither has been able to find the file I want, just a bunch of random files with gibberish names that I know nothing about. I don't know if they're my wanted files in code or what, but either way I can't find anything. Looks like my only option is manual reconstruction. >_<

Oh my word...
Okay so I found this video on YouTube.
APPARENTLY
YOU CAN RESTORE OLD VERSIONS OF FOLDERS
THE SAME WAY YOU CAN RESTORE OLD VERSIONS OF FILES
(which I've done before!)
JUST CLICK PROPERTIES AND GO TO PREVIOUS VERSIONS
....................
I DIDN'T KNOW THIS
OH MY WORD IT'S SO FLIPPING SIMPLE

So I checked my Videos folder's properties and there's one from last night at 9:23 PM, which is before all the deletion took place!!!!! Okay, I'm doing this!
It does mean I'll have to redo the last-minute changes I made to the project, and then I'll have to re-render it, which will take quite a bit of time (and computer heat). But I'll have most of my work back!

UPDATE: RESTORATION DONE
I GOT THE PROJECT BACK!!!!!
MY LIFE HAS CHANGED GUYS
AWW YISS I'M SO HAPPY NOW <33333 I COULD CRY

Hot damn! Glad you were able to restore it. Well done. :)

Looking online it looked like a great many people had similar problems with the same app. Figured the answer had to be out there...somewhere. You found it!
