Contacting Aspergers Team

Ok as some of you know I am waiting for assessment (in the UK) which they have said could take up to a year to get, but I wondered if it would be acceptable for me to contact them and ask where in the referral process I am right now.

Long periods with no contact from them is making me worry they've lost my file or forgetten about me or something.

So would it be ok for me to just call and check? I don't know?

No harm in asking them if thats what you want to do.it will be one less thing to worry about today. If you feel up for it then go for it.

Yep. No harm in asking. I had to do that too (am also in the UK). It helped to keep my mind at ease that I was in the system / queue and slowly working my way to the top. They were very helpful and sympathetic.

So I rang but they are busy right now and will call me back later. Thanks guys :) I feel silly for it but its only going to eat away at me if I don't know for certain whats happening right now... I'm sure they will understand that lol

Well done to you for ringing . see you had the confidence to do that. And theres no crime in inquiring about your own health.i detest speaking on a phone aswell

Kay,

How could anyone lose contact with you and your outstanding personality - maybe they just are not ready to say "I love you" yet.

I'm a funny guy in my own mind.

Yeah I would have done the same. I was lucky in that I was seen very quickly. I assumed it'd be a long wait, as when @VenomousAlbino was referred, it took 2 years before he was assessed!

I hope I don't have to wait that long. Uncertainty, uncertainty everywhere!!

They said its likely to take that long for my daughter to be assessed... I guess that's because there are more kids waiting for assessment than adults

You're very likely going to find this is down to limited NHS resources/staffing and not a misfile. I waited 2.5yrs from initial referral to being diagnosed so count yourself lucky :p

Roughly 4 1/2 months until they get to me in the list... She said it could be shorter or longer, dependant on unforeseen circumstances but at least I have a rough idea now :)
