Cracked article cites our power as an advantage

There are certainly advantages to my autism; without it I probably wouldn't have been able to write 5 novels by age 25.
I think there's so much emphasis put on our difficulties that the advantages of autism are often overlooked.

Hey, it's not just the pictures that are there for humour purposes... as nice as it is to see something positive about autism on Cracked let's not take it too seriously ;)

Anyone else see similarities to the Neanderthal theory of autism?

thanks Ylva for your post.

Turnip I only had that thought a couple days ago, as to the Neanderthal heritage. I believe they have found the genes of the neanderthal in Europe, in modern man

I always wonder how they know that such genes are from the Neanderthal.

I think there was A BBC show where they were recreating the faces from a scull, as part of it they would also take an DNA sample and then compare it to the locals. I know there was a show just not sure who made it.

It's a humorous blogging community that cites its sources. I find it trustworthy. :)

Clearly it goes with the "autism is genetic" point of view, and not, say, the embryonic development one. Still, nice to hear about our powers being used for good instead of seeing it as a hindrance.

I don't consider Cracked.com to be always that trustworthy...but any article that takes a positive attitude toward ASD is a good article.

Thanks for your link Stella, I find that sort of thing interesting. There has been a lot of cases of man reassembling skeletons wrong. There was no mention of cross breeding which may have been a possibility.

I do think there is enough publicizing the positives of neurological disorders.

The part I found most interesting was about how the view of them as being all bent and stooped over was because of one skeleton which had been found...which apparently was from an old man bent and stooped because of health problems (as are some persons today)
