Creative Pet Names...

We once had a rabbit named Stuart, or Stu for short.

Name for an iguana? Don or Dawn.

I once met a man who named his dog Mr. Peeve.
He would introduce him as "This is my pet, Peeve..."

My dog is The Amazing Ms. Dee Dee Deeds, punky Victorian corset wearing steampunk heroine.

She typically goes by "Ms. Deeds" or "" Dammitdeeds" depending on current events.

My dog I had years ago was named Sparky, short for Sparkplug.
Sparky was born on a leather front seat out of a Lincoln in an automotive repair shop I ran.
His mom named Pepper was the shop dog, a wolf/husky mix that got in a family way with a german shepard.
Sparky had a totally awesome Siberian husky paintjob and was smart as a whip.

Me being a gearhead, my mom asked me what kind of a sparkplug he was.

I told her that he was a Champion :p

A lot of people seem to name their pet rats after food, but I find that boring and unimaginative, unless the type of food can also be a name.
I won't list my rat's names here, for privacy reasons.

Currently I have 2 dogs with normal names, Heidi and Bella. They were rescues and responded to those names, so kept them. Previous dogs were Siska, a contraction of a dutch Aunt named Fransiska. Deisha was a shortening of Kadeisha, an arabic name.

One of my dogs is named Dingle, I'd never heard that name before.

Sounds like this fun little bell, not the whirling tornado of teeth the name is actually attached to.

Bingo. Sounded like you'd won at bingo every time you called him. Also, this isn't necessarily creative but I named a dog Tallulah after actress Talulah Bankhead, who was famous for her long cigarette filters, and her coining of the phrase "Darling!" I just like the name.

My best friend's last name is Dingle.

When I was growing up, we got our first dog on a hot muggy day, so we called her Muggsy. She was a mix of 4 different breeds, a true mutt. Our current dog is named Dingo, because he looked like one. The shelter said he was a Lab-German Shepherd mix (I suspect they would say that to a Dachshund-Shi Tzu mix). We have since been told by at least a dozen knowledgeable people he is a Carolina Wild Dog, also known as an American Dingo

I had an Australian Shepherd by the name of "Mischief", and we had no idea he would live up to his namesake. Very intelligent dog.

Years later I had a black Labrador Retriever by the name of "Hiker". He got that name because he was a stray and was found while hiking. I know, real imaginative, but I have to say my two sons named him, not me. Also, later we found out he had a strong hunting instinct and would chase all manner of animals (skunks, raccoons, foxes, rabbits, and deer) but also would get out of the yard and go for a walk with the neighbors and then NOT come back home. He'd be gone for hours, sometimes days, then we would get a call from a vets office or someone miles away, "We have your dog." Seriously, what a pain in the behind he was.
