Creativity as a substitute for socialising?

Tanya

spirit gardener
I spend a lot of time alone. I fill my time by creating things, and have built a whole inner world that I love. I used to be afraid to be alone, now I enjoy it. How about you?

I do not get to spend much time alone because of a large, extended family. My family is everything to me, but like most Aspies, I need my alone time. I just have to take control and make alone time for myself. My wife just tells them that grandpa is off doing his thing. Everybody seems to understand.

Some of my creativity is during time spent alone, but a whole lot of it involved teamwork to accomplish the desired task at hand. I do take some timeouts from the world and value it as a part of my normal process.

I still feel the need for human intervention and alternative ideas, but usually do my best on my own when I can focus and come up with a suitable plan.I can walk my way thru an entire process that is manifested in a series of still and moving pictures that are all internalized with both failure and successful applications presented in sub-folder type displays. I get to see my end results before even starting a project, sometimes as a 3D picture. When I am in ultra thinking mode,I do best if in isolation without outside distraction.I have gone to bed with an engineering problem and was given the answer upon waking in a highly detailed set of images as my brain did not have any external input during my sleep and could fully concentrate on my dilemma.

I write, and it helps me process things, even if I'm very creative with what actually happened. Somehow giving beautiful words to what could be mundane or dramatic makes life easier to work through.

I play with my computer, networking and related equipment.

Most of the people I interact with are people I've met online via chat. I feel a little more secure, I can end the conversation any time and feel less worried about saying the wrong thing.

That's pretty much how I am. I've got a massive inner world I love to spend time in. I'm happy when I get to spend time by myself, but I don't want to be alone all the time.
