Crowdfunding campaign: Creating new 16bit VideoGame

Inator

mad author
Hello everyone.
I want to attempt a custom path. Some friends and I, none of us is exactly mentally "sane", but have formed a videogame development team, where I'm the programmer and co-leader. So far we have only worked through the internet, by sharing ideas and files through chat system, and released a couple games for free, with increasingly better reception, and we all agreed to eventually work in our first professional production, for sale, if we get the opportunity.
Not for the nostalgia factor itself, but more of a "presentation's feeling", "style" or gameplay perspective, there's plans for a new "true 16bit game", to be released in a "true 16bit console" (bundled with a third party emulator (to ease the gamer's experience), whose author allowed me to distribute for commercial purposes).
I'm also just about to email SEGA asking for permission to sell the game in an old videogame console of theirs.

Has anyone here ran a crowdfunding campaign before? beyond what is "required", what are things I should and not do? For releasing a game, are there any legal matters to deal with? or recommendations? such as patenting our game so gets covered by copyright laws?
Aspie syndrome comparatively means a boost in the programming area, but would I have any inconvenience, even if I try to care of every and slightest detail? I seen some horror stories about the huge amount of work running a campaign takes. Social matters wouldn't be much an issue, I will focus on building the engine and demo first, and take a breath to advertise and reply all questions during the campaign. Language barrier will however be an issue, as my english pronounciation is quite terrible, so for videos I'll have to talk in spanish and add subtitles to it (not to worry about in-game text, our translator friend will help here =P).

I'm hopeful I'm able to break the circle of hopeless life, and bring my dreams to reality.

i hope your plan comes into reality, itd be an amazing project for you and get you something to put on your CV.
are you hoping to have it on cart format? the only problem i can see there is the pricer
i still love 16 bit, long may it reign [in cult following status].

@toothless The release will be in CD-ROM format, for the Sega/MegaCD, and will be available as both physical and digital release. The emulator will come bundled within the disc image (Part of AutoRun), as well as homemade BIOS so it can run.
Oh and the manual too :D
Discs are easier/cheaper to manufacture, are PC-compatible, and can hold much more data, than cartridges

yes patent it asap !!!!you have to make sure no one else has tried to do the exact same thing or they could sue you for patent fraud!!! be careful !if your company as it would be doesnt have 1000s of £€$ they would probably leave you alone they go after companies who have huge funds .
you need a lawyer go to legal aid as they maybe able to get reduced cost advice from attorney specialising in contract and marketing law, IM English ,American law could be slightly different

what you've got on your side is crowdfunding is legal in the us
seems to be that when you start to receive funds then you need to know how much are you given in leeway before you have to inform the i.r.s
and when do you have to start disclosing your profit /fund donations
Hello everyone.
In this Education & Employment forum, I have to say, I have no intentions of having a normal job with a crude boss. I'm tired of abuses, and as a 20 years old aspie, knowing how am I an actual target for abuses, I decided I'll try my best in not allowing this again still not sure if to also return the favour by releasing my internal anger by abusing and destroying bad NT egos, but that's besides the point *runs*.

ANYWAYS, I want to attempt a custom path. Some friends and I, none of us is exactly mentally "sane", but have formed a videogame development team, where I'm the programmer and co-leader.
