Hi all!

I've been lurking this forum for a few days and I've decided to register to keep track of some topics.

I'm not sure if I'm going to participate very much because I'm an NT with 0 experience about AS (I don't know anybody who is - or knows/wants other people to know he/she is - on the spectrum, AFAIK) and I think in many topics I would feel OT or simply I wouldn't know what to say... but maybe I could drop some questions from time to time, since, how I've stated in the title, I'm a "curious NT" :)

This could sound weird, but I think it's mostly because Asperger and autism in general, if you don't have some direct experience, is something you got to know only by stereotypes, but here there are a bunch of people talking about real life experience and for some reason I find it very interesting and some way inspiring, maybe because it helps me to think out of the box :)
 
You're taking a good step to learn about us. :)

I learned a lot about AS from this site.

Welcome! You're right about the stereotypes. It reminds me of the guy with AS in Boston Legal. The men I know with AS are not nerdy at all. There is a saying "If you have met one person with AS, then you have met one person with AS."

Hi! Welcome to Aspies Central. You will definitely learn a lot on here. And I like how you say that it's good to think outside the box. The stereotypes of AS that are portrayed in the media are not what people with AS are really like. We are all very different in our ways.

Side note: there are also many NTs on the forum as well, so this isn't limited to just individuals on the spectrum. It's open to anyone who has interest in learning about the spectrum and interacting with others on the spectrum.
