So I haven't dated much at all in my life, but recently I've went on two dates with a lady I connected with through one of those online apps. Last night we went on our second date that lasted 6.5 hours which is by far the longest date I've ever been on. She is fairly extroverted which works well because she is able to keep the conversation going where I wouldn't be able to. There were some lulls in conversation which is probably natural during a longer date.

Anyway, there are some things I've learned so far:
During a conversation, my aspie brain has trouble hearing all the information she tells me. I catch some things, but also miss some information. My brain just can process quickly enough or switch gears quickly enough.

She carries some baggage with her, but seems to be turning her life around. She has had substance abuse problems in her past. But she has friends that still struggle with it. Due to her struggles, I feel like she would understand my issues more so than most women.

We probably don't have enough common interests for this to work out long term, but I think I will keep seeing her to get to know her better and possibly have a friendship out of it at the very least. Besides, I really need the practice. I don't necessarily know exactly what I'm looking for due to inexperience with relationships.

I knew the dates went well based on our interactions and also because after the first date she said "maybe we can see each other again" after our first date and a "See you again?" after the second. The second of which I didn't really respond to since she said it quickly as we were going our separate ways. I've realized that I'm not the smoothest at the beginning or ending of the dates lol.

Consider letting her know you are interested in continuing since you didn't respond to her comment last night ("See you again?"), otherwise she may assume you're no longer interested. You could just text her saying "looking forward to next time together" or some such.

I’m glad to hear you’ve found someone to date, despite your grueling work schedule. I think you’re going about this with the right mindset: it’s fun for what it is, a learning experience at the very least, and if it grows into something more that’s a bonus.

Best of luck, and have fun!
