David McCallum, RIP

Another passing in the news. Makes me sad, I rather liked this man's work.

Actor David McCallum has died at the age of 90.

Ilya Kuryakin, (Man From UNCLE) "Ducky" (NCIS), Ashley-Pitt (The Great Escape)....and so many other notable roles he took on, including two from "The Outer Limits". He will be missed.

I just saw this on the news an hour ago . It feels a bit weird that I'd been talking about the man from uncle with my dad on Sunday night. One of those things where something pops in your head that you probably haven't thought about in years and then something like this happens

Who could have ever missed The Man From UNCLE? In my family it was that, or the Untouchables. My mom's family were rum runners in SE Michigan/SW Ontario during prohibition.

Watched both shows never connected the actor as being the same person,

I only saw his earlier work, U.N.C.L.E., Great Escape and Twilight Zone but always thought him a interesting and thoughtful actor. I thought of him when once I was trying to evade conductors on a train traveling thru the night in Germany, with no money and trying to get back to my base to avoid being A.W.O.L.

Interesting too in learning what an accomplished musician he was. Talented man.

I think the first I ever saw of him was in the 1958 film "A Night To Remember". I think he played the radioman for the doomed ship Titanic.

I recall watching him in The Man From UNCLE when I was a kid. I liked him better than Napoleon Solo. He also played Judas in The Greatest Story Ever Told.
