Deviant has a anti-hate policy?

You can read their rules right here http://forum.deviantart.com/community/politics/2039974/

Anyhow, the member there created the thread "Donald trump wants to ban all Muslims travel" might created it to ask what people thinks about Donald Trump views? Honestly, I don't agree with him. I don't know why he even aloud to be a candidate? Of course there will be people agree with his views, but those people are not educated well.

Are there restrictions to comments?

"You may not use comments, notes or replies to make statements which are racist, bigoted or which contain other forms of hate speech. Comments or notes which are lewd, sexual or otherwise pornographic are also prohibited.

Profanity and strong language used for emphasis conversationally or included in deviations does not need to be reported.

In addition, staff may take action, depending on the purpose, against comments which provide offsite links to material which is considered to be in violation of the deviantART terms of service."

The politics forum is a train wreck is the problem?

The prob is they used to be very the opposite way... I had a friend who voiced his negative opinion on Judaism and the fact that he didn't believe in the Holocaust... He was banned just for saying some stuff about his thoughts on the Torah and why he thought the Holocaust was a hoax?

I have no idea what you mean. I simply quoted Deviant Art's policy verbatim from their web page. It's their policy...no point in editorializing over it.

Read the politics forum and all the comments.. It is basically Storm Front with less intellect?

Have you already directly contacted their website administrators about that? Did they respond?

It's ultimately their call. But yeah, it seems their posted policies are pretty specific. Unless their intent is that the general terms and conditions apply only in part or not at all regarding their politics forum. Perhaps something you should ask them to clarify.

Then again maybe the threads aren't even actually being moderated. Could be that they're "asleep at the switch".

I suppose I could speak out on this, in regards to this forum, moderation and politics, as it's a sensitive issue on this forum as well.

Bringing up a topic is often not the problem, but wording it in a neutral way, so it offers a neutral position to get a debate going is often the problem.

And while I can totally see any topic go sour if you take in consideration the pros and cons of the topic at hand, I think it's fair not ban a topic outright, but step in when it spirals out of control and gets too heated to maintain a "friendly" tone, regardless of the subject.

Ideally, I suppose, any "heated" subject could be moderated before anything is posted, and if possible, have a private talk with the people posting to make amends to their posts, but realistically, most people on the internet blurt out an opinion and the stream of posts would make it an impossible task to edit from any hostility. It would require teams of proofreaders as well as an active userbase available 24/7 open for amending posts so the stream of posts doesn't end up in a bottleneck. I can't see that happening, and that's most likely why, especially given we have a thing like "free speech" (something we should be thankful for, but probably should abuse a bit less), most forums allow subjects and sections overall to exist.

I suppose I could draw a little parallel here in regards to subjects on forums and forum rules, not neccesarily this forum only, but most likely all forums.

The parallel I'll draw is with what we have in dutch in regards to marijuana. People all think it's perfectly legal here in the Netherlands... and it is, in a sense. The government has a little term for it called "gedoogbeleid" which is like a policy on tolerance. It basically means, they allow it, and don't actively search and fine you for possession, yet they tell you to do it within reason. More than 5 grams of pot will still get you in trouble and having more than 5 plants at home will lead to a fine, and if you're growing plants in large numbers it leads to a temporary closure of your house by the local community/mayor (they don't actively search your house, unless they have strong suspicion and you're stealing power to keep your domestic greenhouse going for example). So really, how "legal" is it? And that's probably how it works with forums and sensitive subjects as well. They don't actively take care of it, but don't abuse that "freedom". Claiming it's your right is not the same of enjoying the freedom. And that's what a lot of people clearly fail to see.

Now that's interesting. Why steal power? Is there a limit to how much you can buy? Also, what if it's for home-grown fresh veggies?

Steal power because as with anything stealing, it's slightly "illegal" I suppose. Besides, the main source of stealing power is from light posts on the streets, lol, which makes it theft from the local government.

But in general, if you have extremely high power output, it's suspicious... and rarely anyone is paying for it themselves, hence it's being stolen. Of course, there are ways to grow your own veggies, and if cops come knocking and they find you're growing veggies and nothing else, all is fine of course. It just puts you on the radar. But before knocking on your door there has to be reasonable suspicion.

I believe that the government here, while it doesn't limit how much power you can buy, will get notice by power companies if you have an extremely high consumption, and all those lamps to heat your greenhouse cost quite a bit of power.

Needless to say, it's usually the financially lower classes that get busted, the ones that are reasonably wealthy aren't on the radar as much I suppose, since they most likely don't wire from any other sources and just cough up the cash for this kind of consumption.
