Topic.

Not sure if this applies in North America or Canada, but here in the UK it's been Pancake Day today, and I've had a Pancake tea for the first time in probably 30 years.

Anyone else?

Yeah, although mine were a pudding and were just a packet of 'Scotch pancakes'.

Ha! Didn't know it was Pancake Day! Cooked some yesterday: chia seeds, bananas, water, pineapple juice, grated carrots, cloves, cinnamon, milk, whole wheat flour, white flour, sugar, salt, and a little bit of milk. Used the chia and banana to hold them together; I don't usually like eggs. We ate a few of the remnants today.

No.

A very short and precise answer....... but people know me and I can't just leave it at that. Shrove Tuesday (AKA. Pancake day or Pancake Tuesday) is actually part of the Christian calendar as it marks the start of 40 days of Lent during which some Christians fast running up until Easter. I will leave it at that since this isn't the Politics & Religion forum, but if you want to know more there's plenty of information online about Christian beliefs and history of the tradition.

As far as having pancakes are concerned on Shrove Tuesday, it's something I enjoyed only as a child, these days I will still very occasionally eat pancakes, but I don't specifically eat them on Shrove Tuesday.

I totally forgot about it. Or to be more precise I didn’t even know it was pancake frickin’ day! I have memories of me and my granny making pancakes together when I was a wee girl. She died when I was eleven. <3

We had pancakes and eggs for breakfast, but I did not know that it was pancake day. That should be on the calendar. Rich, why don't you let us know a day or two ahead of time next year. I will try to make my wife something special. When the kids were little we ate pancakes a lot.

My paternal grandmother used to make us special pancakes when we were small children.
She would ask you what kind of animal you wanted so they were special orders by the way she dropped the batter in the pan in different shapes.

My paternal great grandmother taught me how to cook them when I was 10 :)

Cool! That is neat, but no, I did not. Did not know! I can't eat them anyway, but I could have made them! :-)

Oh! In that case, yes! My family went to that service today!

I did not know there was a specific Pancake Day. If I had a dishwasher, and had known about the day, I would have eaten pancakes today.

I used to be an Episcopalian and was introduced to Shrove Tuesday and pancakes at church. No longer a church goer but I still do Pancake Day. I love Pancake Day. Here was what I just had for a late dinner.

Aww! My Granny did the same. She let me make my own shapes too in her round pancake GRIDDLE. Not a frying pan. Since I was into music, I think I made my own music notes. It’s a shame I can’t remember clearly what shapes I made, but the feeling of love is always there.
