Oh! In that case, yes! My family went to that service today! No.
A very short and precise answer....... but people know me and I can't just leave it at that. Shrove Tuesday (AKA. Pancake day or Pancake Tuesday) is actually part of the Christian calendar as it marks the start of 40 days of Lent during which some Christians fast running up until Easter. I will leave it at that since this isn't the Politics & Religion forum, but if you want to know more there's plenty of information online about Christian beliefs and history of the tradition.
As far as having pancakes are concerned on Shrove Tuesday, it's something I enjoyed only as a child, these days I will still very occasionally eat pancakes, but I don't specifically eat them on Shrove Tuesday.
Aww! My Granny did the same. She let me make my own shapes too in her round pancake GRIDDLE. Not a frying pan. Since I was into music, I think I made my own music notes. It’s a shame I can’t remember clearly what shapes I made, but the feeling of love is always there. She would ask you what kind of animal you wanted so they were special orders by the way she dropped the batter in the pan in different shapes.
