Recovering: Sean with his mum Wendy Aisthorpe.
A DISABLED man was left with severe facial injuries in a brutal attack likened to a horror movie when he was robbed of just 30p and a packet of cigarettes.
Sean Donnelly, 25, suffered a fractured cheekbone and a broken nose in the unprovoked assault when he was punched and stamped on in Farebrother Street, Grimsby.
Sean, who has Asperger's syndrome and learning difficulties, went to buy a pizza from KebarbeQ on Friday night at approximately 11.45pm.
He was then approached from behind by two men who knocked him to the floor, causing him to hit his head.
Sean, who also has a form of the developmental co-ordination disorder known as Dyspraxia, said he was then kicked in the head and body, before one of the attackers demanded money.
"I was just thinking, 'I can't believe this is happening to me,'" he said.
"They were stamping on my head and punching me – it felt like it was going on for about 15 minutes."
A neighbour saw the attack and rang for the police, while Sean was left bleeding in the street.
Sean's mum, Wendy Aisthorpe, was completely unaware of what was happening to her son as she was asleep while the horrific attack took place.
"I didn't hear anything because I must have been in a deep sleep," she said.
"When I saw him he looked like he had been in a horror movie – he was covered in blood.
"He just shouted to me that he had been attacked. It was a horrible scene.
"I was running around like a headless chicken, I didn't know what to do.
"I found the phone and called for an ambulance and a neighbour was helping to stop the bleeding from Sean's head."
Sean was then taken to the Diana, Princess Of Wales Hospital where the full extent of his injuries were revealed.
He had a broken nose, fractured cheekbone, a badly swollen eye and severe cuts and bruises to his arms and legs.
The family have been told the fractured cheekbone will heal by itself and Sean has been prescribed pain killers to help him deal with the injuries.
But for Sean, the damage is more than just physical.
Wendy, who works as a sales assistant, said: "I was born in this house and we have never had any problems.
"Sean wants to move now because he is that scared of going out the house."
She added: "To me, the people who have done this are just scum.
"Now he doesn't want to go out on his own.
"If they are going to rob him, they don't need to do all of that – that's evil.
"They only got 30p and a packet of fags from him."
Sean, who receives care 6 hours a week, said he didn't understand why he was attacked.
"I just want to know who has done this," he said.
"Why would you do this to someone with autism?"
A spokesperson for Humberside Police said they were investigating the incident and they have released details of one of the attackers.
"One of the men is described as white, tall and thin, wearing a black or blue baseball cap and a grey hoodie," they said.
"No description was given of the second man.
"Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101, quoting crime reference 2130717."
