Discuss A News Article That Made Up Happy/Angry/Sad/Other Emotion

Title makes things obvious, huh? Yeah. Share news stories that made you feel strongly. Be sure to put warnings if the subject is NSFW/Triggering. Articles from satire websites are allowed for submission. Ready to begin? I'll go first:

"Colorado Shooter Declared Insane After Admitting Joel Schumacher's Batman & Robin Is His Favorite Movie."

Yes, kiddies. We're about to have a bad time.
Satire is a bane to any spectrum. Or just me. Either way, we see this valued comedy form as mean-spirited and not as hilarious as slapstick. But people can go too far. Admit it: If you were sitting right next to me and I kept cracking jokes about how Adam Lanza was REALLY trying to replicate Penguin's plan from Batman Returns, you'd wanna slap me upside the head.

Two kickers in one, here. On H&S's wiki page, there IS a controversy section. Is this little gem in it? Nope, not at all; Just the tale of a Sharon Stone rib gone wrong.
Second kick to the ribs: THIS is seen as acceptable whereas games like Super Columbine Massacre RPG and V-Tech Rampage are 'called out' for 'trivializing' the tragedies. Did I miss something?

Onto the lighter side of the spectrum:

The Sheila Kearns Case

Mom and I had a tiny fight over this. SHE said it wasn't real. I said otherwise.

That would be an AWESOME way to get fired. Just show a horror movie. I'd be all, "I regret nothing!"

“I feel Tim Burton’s ‘Batman’ and ‘Batman Returns,’ as well as Christopher Nolan’s ‘Batman Begins’ and ‘Dark Knight,’ although entertaining, were too dark for me,” Holmes told Judge Samour in front of a packed courthouse. “When people go see a ‘Batman’ movie, they want to have a good time, not feel depressed when they leave the theater.” - from your first link

He has a point there. Who wants to leave the cinema feeling depressed? The joker in the 'Dark Knight' was played by an actor who was just terrible. Jack Nicholson was far better in that role.

First off, I wasn't depressed after watching those movies. Cried a bit, though. And I DO agree on Jack Nicholson being the best. But do NOT say Heath Ledger was terrible. You WILL get stabbed. In the butt.

I don't care; It is still in poor taste to make jokes about a tragedy like that.

Are you guys actually DEFENDING this guy AND this article?! I could care less about what he thought was the 'right' thing. He still killed people. Not to mention it's unfair Hollywood & Swine actually got away with saying that. Two video games based around other tragic shootings got hit with controversy. And I'm PRETTY sure they were more respectful. Or not.

Imagine if the article got found by conservative nutjobs. The most harmless Batman movie would become Public Enemy #1.

I would never defend a murderer, but the guy who wrote the article? Yeah, because satire doesn't bother me in the slightest, and his job appears to be writing satirical articles. If people want to write satirical stories about stuff, then fine. It doesn't affect me in any way, even if it's about something I like as it's not like I have to read it, and it's a joke...the person writing it likely doesn't really feel that way about whatever it is they're satirising.

I doubt it, because any sensible person could see it's satire, and therefore not meant to be taken seriously. Even if some idiot did take issue with the film on the basis of this or anything else they happened to read, I highly doubt that a film this old would become "public enemy #1"...and I think the majority of people would ignore anyone who thought this film had anything to do with anything.

Sorry, I was being over-dramatic. I don't get why THIS is okay and video games about Columbine and Virginia Tech get called out.

Because they're totally different. Video games where you actually play through a school shooting..that's not satire, that's just being a d**k and making a crappy game that you know will garner notoriety because of the subject matter. Satire is meant to be funny (for most) and those games were purely made to f**k with people.

Actually, I heard there were good, intelligent reviews for a game. Still public outcry, though.

But I digress. My BIGGEST issue is the insult towards Tim Burton. The way I see it: If you have any negative words about him, you're so unAmerican that you're practically a Viet Cong.

I just saw on Facebook that Sheffield City Council has evicted the population of "Tent City" situated around the site of the Park Hill Flats.

These people have to live somewhere, and if the Council are charging too much rent on the rather posh Flats in Park Hill, which have been there since the mid 60s as I recall, as my Dad worked on the Electrics there, where are these people going to live? Can't just send them all off to the Homeless place on West St!
