Do you have a routine? Does it get in the way of daily life?

It's common for those with Autism and Aspergers to have routines or repetitive behavior. I don't have a set routine as such but nearly always find myself doing the same things each day. Even when I have planned to do something different, I always end up doing the same repetitive things and pushing other stuff to the side.

Do you have a routine and does it get in the way of daily life?

I would say I do have a routine pretty much every day, but I don't really necessarily need to do things in order. I really like to go for a walk of some sort every single day and I don't really like it if I can't get outside at some point, as long as the weather is nice. When I am working I go for walks during my breaks, on my off days I like to go to the park near where I live. I pretty much only go on the same few websites every single day, some of them I spend a long time on. I don't watch too many different types of shows, mostly just sports, and that can bug my wife sometimes. Thankfully she still puts up with me. :P I really like being able to drive straight home after work, and I will avoid doing certain things that I need to do on the way home just so it doesn't take me only 10 or 15 minutes longer. That one is a bit strange for sure. So yeah, for the most part my routines don't affect my life too much but I definitely have them.

I have no single with problem with routine, i have only a healthy routine and it's not invasive or causes stress!

Browsing the Internet for no less than about 2 hours a day, taking the dog out for a walk, managing household chores....I'm not absolutely rigid like Rainman or whatever stereotype floating out there, I do enjoy and anticipate the change when it strikes but for the most part it's limited to a mix of unproductivity and a bit of creativity or deep thought every now and then.

I want a routine like that! My routine of sitting on the computer all day is unhealthy and gets in the way of everything.

I'm the same as you in that I spend the majority of my time on the computer. I always can't help but come to the realization that this lifestyle so unhealthy and abnormal. Computers are a passion of mine, but they're too addicting for most people on the spectrum as we tend to get addicted to things easily. Computers/the internet make me neglect so many other activities that I could be indulging myself in.

I wish I would've started living a healthy lifestyle in my teens. If I ever start making adequate amounts of money I'll be sure to eat healthy foods on a regular basis. A regular workout and a healthy, balanced diet would be nice. I feel overwhelmingly better when I eat healthy foods. Exercise also helps a little.

I think I'll buy weights soon and will try to build up a bit of muscle. I don't really need strength, nor do I like the muscular look, I just want to bulk up a bit to lose a little bit of excess fat and feel a little better. I can't afford health foods since they tend to be expensive, but I think weights would be a good investment right now.

I completely agree.

I have a pretty strict routine to start my day with, if I'm unable to do my routine I can get a bit agitated...

Well i'm a computer guy too but i try to limit the computer time though, All i ever do on a computer is check my facebook page, post on this blog, modify photos in photoshop, study, email, play my video games (i play very little though), tht's all i do!

One of the things that I tend to do is play on the computer all day if I have nothing to do and it eventually gets so boring.
I do nowadays try to go out places and go round my mates to keep myself from being bored.

But that's just the holidays in general though.

During holidays and especially Summer, I try my best to get out of the house and have some fun with mates. I would say that holidays and Summer is when my social life is most active.

i only just use my computer for practical uses and other stuff but i rarely for entertainment but i still download movies and put them on a projector.

I just moved to a new area, And i don't know my friends well enough to go hang out with them, so i'm forced to take the keyboard! but i still keep in touch with my old friends via phone and facebook.
