Do You Jump?

When excited I jump, do the hokey pokey turn myself around, stretch my limbs into weird positions, go brrrrrrriba with my mouth. It is SO FUN. What silly things do you do from autistic happiness and how do you feel when you do them?

Hmm. I haven't gotten truly excited since childhood. I can remember rubbing my hands together back then.

I pursue things I'm interested in, but excitement just isn't a factor. Even when I used to skydive, I savored the sensation of maneuvering my body in the 120 mph airstream, and enjoyed the scenery, but no excitement.

(I actually thought your question "Do you jump?" might refer to skydiving when I clicked on it.)

I'm much the same as Jumpinbare, I learnt early in life to keep my emotions on a more even keel so I don't get overly exited about things but I also don't get upset and angry at much either.

In a general overall sense if I'm happy I tend to sing, the same thing I've been singing since I was about 3 years old. There's no real words, just things that might sound like words but they're nonsense. And it's a mix of tunes, I think most of them come from TV ads in the 60s, plus there's a bit of Chitty Chittty Bang Bang in there too.

I actually just caught myself singing a little earlier, that hasn't happened for a while. When I'm happy I also tend to have a lot more energy for everything and my home is kept clean and tidy, unlike how it is at the moment.

I try to stay away from emotional expression. Never a good thing in my case. Alexithymia...I haven't felt true joy and happiness...nor sadness and grief in over 10 years...and those were major events in my life. I am either neutral...about 99.999% of the time...or frustrated and grumpy. That said, I would not characterize my life as "unhappy". I have worked hard, played hard, accomplished a long list of things in my life, I have a wife and children...and a lot to look forward to. I still have a lot of unfinished business.

Sure, I enjoy stand-up comedy, music that triggers emotions, etc. but its about as close to an emotional trigger and expression as it gets with me.

Adding to all of that is the fact that I am working in healthcare where emotional self-control is necessary in order to function properly.

Thinking back, it's been since I was a teenager that I have ever just lost control with laughter. I can't say that I have ever acted silly since I was a child.

*Sigh*...That was depressing.

Walk in squares (Rectangles) as I am thinking... :D I suppose when I am excitedly thinking I do it faster! :D

I have been known to jump up and down when excited...

Hmmm. I can't say I've jumped in excitement. But I do tend to flap my hands in excitement. I can have a spring in my step when I am particularly happy.

that is amazing that you can jump out of an airplane and savor it--I have wanted to but don't have the gumption.

Before I began having inner ear issues and had to quit jumping, I had accumulated 1000+ jumps, and got a framed certificate for 50 naked jumps. That's the origin of my username Jumpin' bare.

My family attorney gave me great news, and l did jump up and down in the elevator as he stood next to me. It was a burst of happiness.

Nope. Not unless my back is against the wreckin' machine. ;)

My stims are confined to pacing and swaying back and forth.
Oh my gosh that he could do splits midair like that is why I had a crush on him at 14--he was an acrobat, but all these years later it now seems kind of dopey. But here is you some rolling stones on the continued theme of jumping:
