Do you play games of chance or gamble?

At a fair when I was teen there was a game, where a series of colored balls would roll down and land on a large map of specifically colored areas. You would bet on which color the balls would land on. And if the same colored ball landed on the identical colored area your money would be doubled. I became obsessed with this game, and spent all the money I had playing it day after day at the fair.

Didn't care about the rides, other games, or the food and other attractions. I realized back then that I couldn't control this mania, each time I won money, I gambled it back into the game. That's likely why I don't go to casinos, I'd probably gamble everything I had away. Realizing that I had no control over it, made me realize that I can't be rational about it, it was as if I became insane. But I remember being very excited by it.

Do you gamble, lottery or casino games or one armed bandits or online? And if you do, can you stop, with some winnings or break even?

All by design. ;)

But it pays our taxes and we thank you for that. :)

The trick is to know the difference between gambling for leisure and gambling for profit. If the latter you'll likely leave in a bad mood. If the former, consider it expensive fun....much like a day at Di$neyland.

I do slots, sometimes blackjack and video poker at casinos. I don't do it often- rarely make a profit but I generally have fun. I set a limit of $20-30 for the day- and it usually lasts a few hours. If I get a decent amount ahead ($10 or more over what I started with), I generally cashout and leave.

I also buy lottery tickets sometimes- mostly the scratch off ones, rarely win though. I generally have decent control so I don't overspend at casino or on lottery tickets.

my mum bought me a 5 pound scratch card today as she was drunk,so i scratched it off and won nothing, but now i want another scratch card. :P

It's a psychological game. Think about it. How many people call it good when they win a $2-5 prize from a lottery ticket. NONE. why? Because when you spent your first $1 on a lottery tickey and you win $5. What do you do? You go and buy 5 more tickets with the winnings. And if any of those 5 tickets are a winner(s). You go and buy even more tickets with the winnings. And you keep repeating this cycle until you have no more winners. Even in spite of winning multiple time. You still end up walking away $1 poorer.

lottery tickets: the only choice that changes your chance of winning is participating, it doesn't even matter how often you participate, how many lines you fill in, always using the same numbers, etc, all statistically irrelevant, so i participate randomly, with random numbers and for a random amount

games of pure chance against machines: are stacked against you, making it an almost certainty to lose

games of chance/skill against people: i don't have an eidetic memory, so can't count cards, so very likely to lose

its not something i enjoy, don't see the point of it, as one rarely has any real control over the outcome

I like scratch tickets :p
I am not a big fan of gambling though, as my dad had a gambling addiction and it was detrimental to my family.
One time my mum gave my dad some money to fill up the gas tank for our van, as we were going on a road trip, and my dad went to a casino and basically flushed all the money down the shi*ter. My mum was furious.
My dad was addicted to gambling, spending, drinking, drugs, and cheating/promiscuity. He was HFA but also had borderline personality disorder and that sort of risky behaviour is common within that disorder.

As for me, I think I do have somewhat of an addictive personality, perhaps I'm genetically predisposed, so I tend to steer clear of things where I could get sucked down the rabbit hole.

I live in Las Vegas and occasionally gamble, maybe play the Megabucks once or twice a year for 10 bucks. I used to throw my spare change in the slot machine walking out of the grocery store or 7-Eleven. But living in Vegas it actually gets boring fast.

Love games.

Zero interest in any kind gambling.

I've been to Las Vegas 3x and never got around to even gambling a quarter in a slot machine, lmao. Too much other stuff to see and do. :P

My dad does this, it's so funny. xD He'll give me a stack of "winners" which are all 1-5$ winning and tell me to get him more tickets. I won't do it because it would require me to figure out how to actually get the winning and buy more tickets, sorry, not sorry. I think he's given up now. It really is just annoying.

Lol I've gotten these as presents and sometimes one a dollar or two something stupid. Never went and got my stupid dollar. xD

Sometimes customers will come into the bar and give us scratch off tickets like it's some big, great, fantastic tip, I can't help but just look at them stupid. I always lose them before getting around to even bothering. Just give me a dollar dude, seriously. o_O At least then I can at least get myself a bottle water, which I'll love much more than your stupid ticket.

I rarely play games of chance, about the most I ever do is a 50/50 draw, which is mostly for charity anyway

If I went to Las Vegas I would have more interest in leaving the city to explore and take photos of course...

The city is beautiful, any time of day or night. I took soooooo many photos, hundreds and hundreds. And from the top floor of the hotels you can see all the mountains. You are surrounded by mountains. So awesome. I hope to go back sometime. The giant lion outside of MGM is my personal favorite. The Luxar has really cool architecture as well. <3<3<3 Outside of the scenery, there are all the shows and events, conventions. People that think you have to go to Vegas to gamble are very limited. :3

Oh and I want to try that rollar coaster on the top of that one hotel that's somewhere in Vegas.

I have played casino games such as slots and BlackJack online and on apps for fun with no money involved. I could stop when I wanted.

Occasionally, I play the lottery, generally when the jackpots are large. I played a few slots in Vegas when I was there, but, honestly, casino gambling is about the most boring thing in the world.

I've tried to study counting cards at blackjack, but the conditions in a casino aren't the most favorable(like a lot of decks reduce your advantage). I am into sports betting, like reading up on baseball games/matchups.

I do the UK National Lottery every week that's about the extent of my gambling.

I currently spend £7 a week on tickets, one on a Tuesday for Euro Millions and then one each for Wednesday and Saturday for the main draw, plus an extra line sometimes if it's a big Rollover Jackpot, and sometimes I have a Euro Millions ticket on a Friday.

I never win anything though apart from maybe a free Lucky Dip for getting 2 numbers, never any actual money back.
