Do you think I'm autistic?

Hi there! ^^
I think I'm obviously autistic. It's so expencive to get diagnosis in my country, and we don't have that much money. Therefore (and becouse we don't know about it for a long time) I've never been diagnosed.

Autistic traits I have:
  • Stimming - I stimming since my baby ages! Every types, including hand flapping.
  • Hypersensitivity - Hypersensitive hearing, touching, tasting, smelling. Brighter lights and colors.
  • Extremely strong synesthesia - Everything is attached to everything. Color, number, shape, smell, taste, style, touch. Etc. If I look at a rainy picture I can smell the rain! Or If I just draw a character in hoodie, I can feel the hoodie's material!
  • I notice many little things that the others do not
  • Eye-contact - I almost never made eye contact when I was little, now I'm consciously trying.
  • Great long term memory for random things, ('n poems, song lyrics, cartoon monologe) but I regularly forget basic things. (ADHD)
  • I love objects and people more than average - Some specific objects are so important for me, I sometime become more than happy when I can spend time with my favorite things, eg. shows. I can talk about them a lot, but I don't want to annoy the others so I don't...?
  • I can be hyped for simple everyday things - Or sometime I could be worried about them, but I stayed calm in dangerous situations.
  • There's days when I don't speak at all. An some hours when I can't stop.
  • I really love persons and am loyal to them, but I need to be alone. I hate crowd and if someone stand too close to me.
  • When I was younger I had much meltdown and anxiety issues.
  • Delayed sensation of heat and pain (~2mp)
  • I had daily difficulty with social situations (Still, but it's much better now)
  • I was often upset about bigger changes, I was lost in space and time.
  • I repeat sentences I heard in a show in real life situations. Many times.
  • Sometimes my thoughts echoed.
  • I learned social stuffs and expressing emotions (mostly) from cartoons - Eg. facial expressions
  • I couldn't always grasp my emotions - For example, many times I confused nausea with anger WIWY*!
  • I wasn't so good at certain moves (sport time)
  • Sometime I just ruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuun ✨
And the others. I'm very musical and visual.
I had so hard times when I was younger. BTW I was diagnosed with ADHD at age five.
*WIWY = When I Was Younger = Before age 13-14
I become a huge expert of autism, I want to be a special education teacher! My dad ('n my bro) is/are probably has/have Asperger syndrome too.

:) ;) :(   :p :D    o_O

What do ya think?

Wellcome to the forum

Noone in here can say you have or havent any kind of diagnose as thats up to a profetinal to do in a evaluation im afraid but you could try to do some online tests to give you hint if you might have it or not

Well, I am qualified to teach History and to drive buses, so as Sarah S rightly says, this is not an official diagnosis, but yes, this sounds very much like Asperger's Syndrome to me. I not only have the condition myself but have taught adolescents who had it. And at bus enthusiast events, one does seem to see a number of cases of A.S.D. That's the extent of my "qualifications" in this area!

problem is if you want any kind of help the bureaucrats want paper and that means money, if you have enough support from your family just don’t bother, to give you an idea of why people don’t diagnose you there is another condition which is really a lack of socialisation the difference between someone autistic and the latter condition is if that person was taught socialisation skills from an early age ,they would change, I only know this from reading what people have said on the forum and Wikipedia and the autism Society ,there are no members that I have ever heard of who could diagnose anybody .
I lived ,really struggled severely depressed for 45 years ,before diagnosis ,I’m in the UK ,another person in the UK was diagnosed when they were 83

Ex long haul trucker here so yeah

And i agree you do seem to have many tics that are usuell to among other Neoropsycolocal diagnoses as ASD but there may also be other co morbid or even similar diagnosis ( fore ex ADHD ) & thats why i still say only a profetional evaluation team can decide what if any (id say you seems possibly have more then one ) diagnose.

Also Neuro Psychological diagnosis in general are highly individual + its a difrence of the severety grade and lastly also between genders

Well you know like others have said we aren't mental health professionals, just mainly diagnosed and self- diagnosed people on the spectrum. But to me it sounds like a good possibility you are. Many of us have experienced the difficulties of autism but like yourself have come up with ways to deal with them and be more or less successful in attaining our goals. A Special Education teacher is a very reasonable choice and I know quite a few of them are on the spectrum themselves. They can bring a lot of understanding and insight to the job.

Thanks for the answers, everybody ^^
I don't want a diagnosis from you guys, I just was curious about your opinion.

(By the way, actually it's easier to me at school that at home. My dad has hard autistic traits, but he he doesn't want to hear anything about it. My bro is stimming all the time, talkin' way too much about his interests and he is also hypersensitive. (Mostly for lights)
My Mom has hard times with all this thing, it's so tiring. Arguing and the others.
My Mom thinks she can "make disapear" some of the traits with C-Petid. I don't want them to "disapear"! I got so much good thing 'from' autism.)

Checking youre age and that youre also girl then id say this in us girls its more common that we are not discovered to have ASD until were adult 30 + in general as we have more subtile and even diffent ways of displaying our different tics then guys + were also better at masking and get under the radar.

And like you suspekt i do too. Probaly also ADHD and ADHD is also a known comorbid diagnose to ASD and vice versa as its more common to have both diagnosis .

try to find a way to be able to isolate youre self in youre room Put on some headphones and listen to some music and just relax trust me you need it.

Welcome to the Forums! I hope you make new friends and enjoy your stay in the process! :)

We can't diagnose you, as everyone here's just an everyday person. You'd have to see a Medical Professional, ideally one who deals in autism.

Quite a few of us are happy with our autistic side and what it enables us to do and experience. Not to say there aren't difficulties, there of course are. But all considered we prefer the way we are.

And some of us like me HATES all their diagnosis as they have destroyed most of what dreams we had in geting a normal happy life . But are also greatful for the few " gifts " they have granted us

Well, I'm sure nobody would want to pour paraffin on the fire in any dispute between you & your mother, but psychiatrists spent 20 years trying to push pills on me, and whenever I was weak enough to try any medication, it seemed to make me less intelligent, less lucid, less aware; so it gave me another thing to be depressed and anxious about, instead of making me feel better! Sometimes the professionals want you to be on medication because that makes life easier for them, not necessarily better for you.

Yes, fully agree with this. I'm lucky in that my current doctor supports my decision to live without medication (presumably he is not a shareholder in any pharmaceutical companies...).

I havent been on any meds to any of my diagnosis my self and oh yes they have tried to get me on them all my life. And still say the same i always have NO thank you (its well known that some of this kind of meds have nasty side effects ) . Ive learnt to live and deal with them without. Not to mention not much more they can destroy in my life anyway.

Thanks for the answers <3
I just realized this post didn't make as much sense as I thought and now I want to delete it

There is not really debate here, I said that I honestly don't support it, and She said "this isn't a problem, it will do good. Just use it."
It is not a drug or something.

And some of us like me HATES all their diagnosis as they have destroyed most of what dreams we had in geting a normal happy life

I'm so sorry to hear that.:pensive: I hope you'll find the thing that makes you happy.

I think I will never get diagnosis. But it is not a that big deal. There was many nerd, theater kid and bully in my primary school, but they gave up to figure out why I'm like that.
My current (secondary) school is fine, I actually love it. But my teachers don't understand what's going on. So I'm a "bad kid" now or what?!
(Many times I forget to do my homework. I'm almost always late, even though I don't want to. Either I talk way too much or almost I'm the living silence. I draw while they talk, that's the only way I can truly listen. I run at random moments when I'm excited. (Not during lesson) I draw intricate flowcharts into my notebook. etc.
Actually, nobody cares about ADHD.)
--(Hmmm, Why did I write all this???)

-And university will be good, I can learn about autism!
Maybe it's better (for me) not to have official paper.
... Leastwise in Hungary.

Actually yes, this is a very good point: I didn't get a diagnosis until I was 41, and there are some things I was able to do when younger (e.g. training as a teacher, taking my bus driving test) which I might have been disbarred from doing if the authorities had known I had Asperger's. So yes, there are some circumstances in which it may be better not to have a diagnosis...

Good luck!

To be honest you learn more about autism on this forum !or if you watch videos on YouTube from autistic people, neuro typicals just can’t tell you what it’s like, they just aren’t autistic, the same as I couldn’t teach somebody that is neuro typical to be neuro typical,Neurotypical means Somebody with non-divergent neurology(brain is wired -connected differently) .
people with divergent neurology are either schizophrenic ,have bipolar disorder ,autism ,autism like disorders ,downs syndrome.

A few things that needs to added here i think

Youre right in if you get ASD diagnose might make some things more difficult in life yes .

You most defenetly fit ADHD (female version ) and you remind me of me at youre age in many ways

last and this is important DONT let any of this diagnosis stand in youre way .LEARN how to deal with them (time will do this ) and work WITH them rather then against them. Check the internet you will find LOTS of info on both ADHD as well as ASD

As you can see in my Signature & profile they discovered more and more diagnosis all my life and in my case they have tossed the towel and accepted i have multible diagnosis yet to be discovered but the odds of finding them all is very low so there is no reason to proced (and i agree i still find new diagnosis who also is backed up by being co morbid to my main ones + by said criterias for diagnose.)
