Do you think King Arthur will return?

There's a lot of legends and myths surrounding King Arthur - no doubt one of Britain's most well known kings as well as one of our most legendary heroes; the story of a boy who pulled a sword from the stone and went on to become the King.

Of course, nowadays, there are a lot of debates about King Arthur, from the location of Avalon where he was apparently taken to heal or buried (depending on what you read) to even asking if he really existed.

One debate that catches my eye, however, is part of King Arthur's legend that states that he will one day return in the role of a messiah to save his people. It's an interesting thought alone, and in the BBC TV Series Merlin, they even reference this legend in the final episode:

The point is, if this legend was indeed true and King Arthur really did return, then here's some questions:

How would you personally react?

How do you think the public both in Britain and the world would react?

How do you think the Political Parties and Royal Family would react?

Hmm, interesting topic. Wouldn't be too surprised if someone out there has written a fantasy story about such a thing happening.

Have you seen the movie Excalibur? That's my favorite version of the Arthurian myth on film.

Interestingly enough, the director had previously planned to make a (very strange) movie adaptation of Lord of the Rings:

Zardoz director John Boorman almost made a Lord of the Rings movie

It's not directly about the Arthurian myth, but there's a Japanese/Polish sci-fi movie called Avalon that touches upon it in some interesting ways:

I've actually got Excalibur on DVD.
Just haven't had the time or been in the right mood to watch it.

I'll check out that Avalon one.
In my opinion, one of my favourite movies that references the Arthurian legend is Dragonheart. I love the part where the heroes arrive in Avalon - it just fills me with wonder and amazement as to how it would truly feel; entering the resting place of King Arthur. I can recite the 'Old Code' from that film by heart. :D
A Knight is sworn to valour,
his heart knows only virtue,
his blade defends the helpless,
his might upholds the weak,
his word speaks only truth,
his wroth undoes the wicked.

Been honest, I would think of it as amazing if Arthur really did return. I've got this image in my head of a sign appearing in the sky - like a spectral image of Excalibur with a spectral dragon flying around it. Similar to the film Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire where the 'dark mark' appears in the sky;
