Does anyone remember early 3D programs....

I remember a pragrom where you were in a house in the middle of an abyss, a program where you could explore a farm and a nearby house and one where you were on the Star ship Enterprise alone and had to prevent a hull breach...

We played many early computer programs as my dad was in programming back then... But I can't recall any names or anything. I have fond memories of writing DOS games using source code from computing mags. :)

I'm pretty sure I played Deja Vu, though. I loved those adventure games, not least because they don't require deft joystick movements, haha. We had a few flight and space simulations but I found those tedious and difficult. My brother was heavily into Test Drive later, as well. And Wolfenstein when we eventually got that.

Wish my memory of childhood was clearer...id love to show my son the games I used to play.

Was the house one 'alone in the dark?' Or something else. I remember the Star Trek one as well, think my dad had it.

I used to play PC games all the time years ago, some good stuff too such as the old Lucasarts point and click Adventures and the Disc World games.

Used to do a bit of BASIC programming on the Spectrum back in the mid 80s as well.

I'm a bit of an IT nerd you see, hence I'm still single at nearly 40 :D

I used to do programming in BASIC with my dad, but on the Acorn Electron (basically the same as the BBC microcomputer but with a different casing).

Do you mean games that look 3D, or ones that actually use a 3D engine?
For example, the currently popular Clash of Clans looks 3D because its drawn in isometric, but its only a 2D game. Likewise, Settlers I & II looked 3D, but Settlers IV actually used a 3D engine.

I mean games which used Polygons and Had you just walking around alone... Does no one remember this?

In the early 80s my father would occasionally bring home his work computer. I remember there being text based games which used their own operating system which you had to boot into.
The only 3D one I remember from that time was a space one (star trek based I think) and you had to (among other things) land your space craft in the space station.
Friends had easier access to computers, including to systems superior to MS DOS at that time and more aimed at graphics and gaming. They may well have seen games I didn't.
I only had one 3D app for my Palm, and that was a very basic flight sim with one mission, and pushed the limits of my device :-).
Just did a quick google and was surprised how many sites there are now for abandonware and old DOS games. Been a few years since I tried emulating DOS. lol

There's a new version of Doom coming out in 3 weeks, I'm half considering getting it for the single player, I tried the multi player beta last week, and died, a lot!
