Doing Dishes

This is so relatable, I have it the same way with my spouse, I really do not understand how they can not see the spots, I appreciate the work an effort, but I also know I have to check every plate and glass I take from the cupboard before I use it...

We have a dishwasher so dishes, glasses, utensils, etc. are always clean. But pots and pans have to be washed by hand and that's where I find places that hubby missed when he "washed" them. He's getting better at it. I wish he'd stop wiping his dirty hands on the dishtowel, though. Wash hands first, then use the towel to dry off!

I wish my dad would quit handling everything without washing his hands.

Does anyone else have a tendency to spend an hour on fifteen minutes worth of dishes due to water surface tension experiments, experiments comparing the rate at which various dishes sink, and experiments comparing how fast a particular item sinks in the sink when placed on the water at various angles? Is this relatable or do I just have a problem or something?🫤
I don't think you have a problem, because... If you have a problem, then so do I.
Personally, I find that behavior very impressive.

We have a dishwasher too, but things aren't always clean coming out of it, it's not everyone in the household who understands how to put things in it the right way so it has a chance to do its job, :) but they try, so credit for that :)

Sorry, so he don't think the dirt from his hands (is that even making the hands clean?) going to the towel, will be transfered back to what ever is later dried with that towel? Or it's just that he don't think that far?

He does it when he is "cooking" something. I think he gets busy, needs to wipe off his hands, and just grabs the towel without thinking that his hands are not really clean. (That's what paper towels are for!) He also opens the refrigerator door with stuff on his hands so I'm constantly wiping down the door handles. He's a retired medical doctor and knows more about germs and the transmission of disease than most people but he just gets too absorbed in what he's doing to pay attention. He's not really a good cook although there are some things he makes really well, like ice cream, pies and stroganoff, his three culinary specialties.;)

Oh, that is kind of close to cute, (forgetting about the safety aspect) - I was imagining he came in from working on his car or something, and then drying the oil off in the towel :) anyway I agree with you, the towel should be kept clean (or put aside for washing...)

I'm kind of weird about dish towels. I change them as soon as they get wet. If they're wet, I assume they have germs on them. I may put out two or three clean, dry dishtowels per day and toss the dirty or wet ones in the laundry.

I won't permit them in my kitchen. Grew up with them my entire childhood...and can still smell that rancid stink in dish towels hanging on the insides of cabinet doors. Using only disposable paper towels.

It can't hurt...

No, I just try to get them done and out of the way after looking at the sink for some time with anxiety and dread, because doing dishes is my most hated chore of all time. Sorry for not being a savant.
